Project Runway August 27

So – who else watched it? What did you think? The right one definitely went home.

Those of us on the west coast haven’t seen it yet, since it doesn’t air for another hour and a half.

QFT. Mormon Boy’s time was up, and I knew he was going home the second he started being a twat and bitching about how the judges just didn’t get him. From the front his outfit looked like something you could buy at JC Penney; from the back it was just a disaster.

Stella is running out of people to save her ass by turning in a bigger disaster.

I liked Leanne’s dress, but she’s in danger of becoming predictable.

I was hoping Stella would do better…she needs to step outside the comfort zone. I hope she’s able to pull that off better in the future, though.

Nice seeing Laura again, though. Love her!

I was happy for LeeAnn. Although, I thought Korto’s coat looked great she’s won before. Besides Korto can’t even look happy when being complimented, I suspect she went back and cried when she didn’t win, too.

I figured the loser’s edit was going to Keith and Stella but I knew I wouldn’t get lucky enough to see Stella leave yet.

Joe was lucky he had immunity this week. That was not good.

Keith’s was horribly fit. and a mess all around and unwearable and just generally awful. There was nothing else as deserving to go home.

Blayne’s was a fit problem more than anything else to me. I didn’t hate it as much as some of his previous efforts. I think he’s growing on me. Like mold.

Stella’s skirt was badly put together.

And I predict that next week Terri will make a loose flowing shirt and pair it with pants.

I liked Korto’s coat and while LeeAnn’s thing isn’t me, I can see why it won. It was well done.

BTW, who is that Rachel person? Why is she getting a show?

Did stella only pack two outfits and then lose one? I swear she wears those god awful striped tights and crotch cutting shorts every show. Please let her go next so I never have to see them again.

She’s predictable in the sense that I expect good things out of her. Other than that, I think she’s simply guilty of having a style.

It’s finally getting weeded out to the point where I’m beginning to remember who’s who. I actually liked most of the garments this week.

Korto - The coat looked cool, but unwearable and bulky and shape-hiding.

Leann - I thought the hip things would prove to be disasterous. Glad I was wrong. It’s amazing that someone who seems so meek would’ve made it this far - I’d’ve thought the producers would’ve engineered her Auffing just because she’s not “TV” enough.

Blayne - He’s beginning to look more human as the tan is wearing off. I liked the fact that he used some of the hard parts of the car.

Keith - Damned whiner. Did he not know before he joined the show that he would be critiqued and judged? Then being mad at his model for sitting down in hair and makeup. How did he think she was going to get it done? He should’ve had her take the skirt off before she went down. Good riddence.

Joe - He went the opposite of everyone else and actually brought the car into the garment. Other than that, it was pretty unmemorable.

Stella - Well, trying to do something pretty is stepping outside her comfort zone. But it was just blah blah blah. And “Ratbones”? Really?

Terri - Honestly, I don’t remember her outfit. Which speaks volumes.

StG

Exactly. Why didn’t he just have her take it off before hair and makeup, if he knew full well it wouldn’t survive a sit-down? It’s not as though putting it back on would have screwed up her hair and makeup, it’s a skirt. And of course, alternatively, he could have considered making something that wasn’t such complete crap. It’s not as though it was a delicate fabric.

I’m so glad that Keith and Daniel are gone, along with their incessant whining about what misunderstood geniuses they are.

Rachel Zoe is a “personal stylist”, and the Queen of the Tanorexics. She was stylist to both Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan during their Orange and Malnourished periods. As to “why is she getting a show?”, well… beats the hell out of me.

You’d think he’d have learned from last week that copping a whiny 'tude with the judges on the runway is the quickest route to “time to go upstairs and clean out your space.”

I was definitely not impressed with anything about Keith this week…his design, his whining, etc. I agree that his attitude with his model was really unfair…how did he think the stylists were going to do the hair on a 6 foot tall girl if she wasn’t sitting down? And, I’m sorry, I’ve seen all the seasons of this show, and there hasn’t been a designer yet, IMO, who was so brilliant that their work was above the heads of Michael and Nina…I can’t imagine why he thinks his would be.

One other thing I don’t get about Keith…what is it that everyone finds so attractive? The guys at Project Rungay and the recapper at TWoP are gaga over him. I don’t see it at all.

If I were judging, I would have given the win to Korto, although Leanne’s was a close second. Korto’s just looked to me more like something someone would actually wear.

ETA: I was tickled to see Laura, too…she is awesome!

He has a very handsome face and a great body. I didn’t like Keith, and I hated his tattoos, piercings, and god-awful rat tail thing, but he was hot.

I don’t see that at all…I think his face is average, and his body is a little…thick, I guess. Maybe it’s just me.

That’s what I thought, too. It’s not like she set out to ruin his outfit–this isn’t like her pulling a Morgan in season one (wearing the bathing suit out to party). He should have had her wear her own clothes to hair/make up if he felt that strongly.

Am I the only one who didn’t really see Kenley’s new model (Germaine?) as “boxy and flat”?

I think that the right person went home. I don’t understand why people still go so over board with the judges criticism. Anyone who has seen the show knows that the judges like personal style (see Christian); they just want it to be well executed. There criticism of Keith was more about poor execution then the style itself. In addition to that, If he was going to abandon his style and impress them with construction, then maybe he actually needs to do a good job with construction and make something that won’t get ripped when you sit in it. That screams shoddy workmanship to me. If you are making something that fragile it needs to be amazing, and Keith’s design was just blah.

I also think the right person won. LeAnn has consistently made well constructed, well thought out creations. It was about time for her to win. Korto’s was great too, but it was exactly what I thought of when I heard the challenge, so it just didn’t seem that original (although it was excellently executed). LeAnn’s was original AND excellently executed.

I am loving LeAnn more and more, I have to say. I hope she makes it to the final, because I would love to see what she can do with a collection. This is my favorite part of the season, where most of the riffraff has been eliminated, and you really start to appreciate who the different designers are, what their personal styles are and who you would like to see make it all the way.

See, people differ. I think his face is just beautiful…I could stare at him all day. And I LIKE thick…his body looks hot to me. I’d jump that.

Ditto.

I have to admit that, tattoos, piercings, and extremely ill-advised ponytail thing aside, Keith is totally my type, physically. Nice big arms and chest with a little bit of meat on him, buzzed hair, and glasses? Yes, please. Nice smile, too. He actually looks a lot like one of my exes, come to think of it…

It seemed to me as though both he and Daniel were just totally unprepared for this show, emotionally. I think that Keith thought that his weirdo fringe style would be a huge hit, and he wasn’t prepared to deal with the fact that it wasn’t. After the drag challenge, he just seemed to have a total meltdown. I think he knew he was going home the entire time.

I also have to say that I like Stella quite a bit. Her style may be somewhat narrow in scope, but every single week after the first challenge she’s made an outfit that was germaine to the challenge yet still looked very “Stella.” She also seems to have a good attitude about the whole thing, just working hard and not getting sucked into any drama, while not complaining about things like getting picked last in the duo challenge or (probably) not getting her first choice of drag queen.

Her shtick does get a bit tiresome, but I like her, especially on a season that seems to have more whiners than usual.

OK, maybe it’s a gay guy vs. straight girl thing. Although I do agree with you that the body mods and bad haircut are a huge turnoff for me, as well.

Yeah, I think you are right about this. When his schtick wasn’t well-received, he didn’t know what to do in terms of 1) accepting it and 2) fixing it. I think one of the keys to a show like this (and, maybe, a career in fashion in general) is being able to have a point of view, but also understanding that other people have to “get” it in order for you to be successful…you aren’t just designing for yourself.

And Daniel…I don’t know about him. I think he felt out of his depth and used the “exquisite taste” excuse to cover up for it. He really has to immerse himself a little more in the world, I think, and try to understand where fashion comes from.

I like her, too. I think her persona is very authentic, which is kind of refreshing in a season like this one…

Didn’t Keith say “I want to change the way the world dresses!”? He can’t deal with the fact that people have tastes and preferences outside his narrow scope. I can just imagine that he thought if he could only just show people what they were supposed to like, he’d have everyone saying, “wow, you’re so right. I never thought of that. Certainly we should chose you and your designs!” He doesn’t understand that most people want comfortable, attractive clothes that they can sit in.
