Pull down the space heaters and yank out the parkas! (Florida's winter has arrived)

The weather is one thing I don’t miss about Montreal. Of course, winter is the time of year when all Canadians envy Vancouver-ites.

We’ll just pretend that points south don’t exist.

:: decides to phone cousin in Tampa, just because ::

Why do they envy the Vancouverites? It’s probably nicer in their condos down here on the Gulf Coast.

To Floridans: kindly rot in hell while I freeze in my underheated uni. flat.

They do that during July and August if that’s any help.

Well, I must be acclimated to Texas now. It is about 70 and I am wearing a sweatshirt.

Yeah, wait until next July, when all us Southerners are broiling alive in 100 degree heat. Well, at least the beach is still nice then.

So’s the pool in my backyard. And the beer in my floating cooler.

Yeah, preach it! Our little’uns kept us awake for a good portion of the night by Gallivanting Wildly® 'round and 'round the apartment. Good sleeping weather – if you can get to sleep!

Okay, the vast majority of Canadians envy Vancouver-ites. The rest of us bask in the sun coming through our Gulf Coast condo windows.

Better?

It’s 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic, but very windy and brisk. Lots of dark puffy clouds and peeks of bright blue sky.
Everyone says it’s cold, but I love it.
Days like this are just perfect - glorious fall days.

I just started a fire in the woodstove, just to take the chill off.
I’ll crack a window when I go to bed. This is perfect sleeping weather. I love winter.

It was nice! I walk around between my downtown job sites, and today I didn’t actually soak through my dress shirt before lunchtime. I love it when it finally gets cool (liveable) in Florida in the fall, and I fully intend to enjoy the next few months.

Plus I look really badass in my gray double-breasted trench coat.

ok fine go ahead and gloat about your cold snap, but just you try to make candied apples in the sub tropics, can’t be done HAH!

(many a batch of apples I remember sitting in a sticky pool of red candy and nuts, my poor mom was so low after those attempts at cool weather candy attempts in N Miami. Caramels?, forggetaboutit)

OMG it was 66 this morning in Key Largo and I thought I’d stepped through my doors and onto a different planet. So NICE. It’s cooling off now and we’re about to go sit with a neighbor and have a drink. WITH SWEATSHIRTS ON! WHEEE!

Pussies.

I’m looking forward to the first real blizzard (that is, bad enough for Mr. S to stay home from work) . . . snow howling around outside, a pot of soup on the stove, a roaring fire in the woodstove, and me nestled on the couch under one of my mom’s handmade afghans with a puppydog at my feet, watching old movies. The same for Mr. S, only add lattes as needed.

Swampy beat me to it! Except it’s actually more like May through late October (If we’re lucky enough to get a late October cold snap. And don’t forget Hurricane season runs to November. Don’t begrudge us our few and far between weatherly joys.

I’ve been staying in NC last night and tonight-in the 30’s. Peninsula ensues.

It’s a mite chilly out. I might think about putting on a jacket tomorrow.

While continuing to wear shorts and flip-flops, natch.

Heh. My Wife has been measureing the snow we’ve received so far this year.

60 inches.

Another storm is on the way tonight
