No, I wasn’t obscuring my gender on purpose, but I chose the species name for the American Crow as my handle (right on, Odieman!). brachy rhynchos means “bristle beak” and refers to the corvid (crows, magpies, jays, ravens) of having their nostrils covered by stiff hairs. My own nostrils are fairly hair-free but I took this username because I dig crows and like the pronunciation (brachy rhyming with tachy + rinkos).
