Quick, what's your current earworm?

Both the above songs have been running in and out of my ear for the past few weeks.

It feels good, though.

Wuthering Heights by Pat Benatar because we were just talking about books we read in high school.

Have you seen the version of Comfortably Numb on the Pulse DVD? If not, do yourself a favor and check it out. Dave’s solo is great of course, but the spectacular lighting effects take the song to another level.

“I confess” by English Beat

It kept coming at me last night.

With a heavy heart… Back in Black.

And, You Shook Me All Night Long.
She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman that I’ve ever seen…

Kesha - “Let 'Em Talk”

Up until 7 seconds ago, it was “Hallelujah”.

I am now consciously ,happily replacing it with ‘You Shook Me…’
mmm

Bach, Two Part Invention in d-minor. Not one of my favorites and it’s driving me nuts.

But last night in the middle of a great game of cards, it was the theme song from Flipper. God help me.

I’m in deep with this girl but she’s out of her mind - Blink 182

Really, try to shake it out of your head once it’s there. Good luck.

We were talking about this year’s Glastonbury at lunch and this cropped up - been in my head ever since.

Bear in mind:

(a) it’s a side stage
(b) in the afternoon
(c) it’s not exactly their audience, it’s a festival crowd
(d) it’s a tent so I guess the sound doesn’t bounce off anything and
(e) Brandon: “We’ve played Mr. Brightside probably fifteen hundred times live and I think that was the craziest it’s ever been”

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about bum cakes
My gal’s got 'em.
Big bottom
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?

I’m sleeping and right in the middle of a good dream
And all at once I wake up from something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed screaming out the words I dread

I think I love you

Immigrant Song by Zep.

I doubt many here know it.
Hard Love by Need to Breathe. It’s supposed to be a Christian song, but I have yet to discern any Scripture, and it paraphrases atheist philosopher Nietzsche: “…What don’t kill ya makes ya stronger…”

I hate that song, and I haven’t heard it on the radio in 3 or 4 days, but it is still here, making me nuts.

I’ve been listening lately to Peter Stampfel’s Dook of the Beatniks (yeah, I listen to obscure aging hipster shit, sorry) and EVERYTHING ON THE ALBUM is a damn earworm. I’m sick of waking up at 4AM with “Oomalooma Bessie Bessie” running through my head.

The title cut is even worse, because the lyrics are so cool.

I taught Allen Ginsberg how to write a poem
I was on the road when Kerouac lived at home
I ride harder, and faster, than Cassady can
And like Popeye, I live in a garbage can…

I hesitate to call it an ear worm, because I really like it, but I cannot get this song out of my head. Yeah, I know this is what SNL or Dave Chappelle would call “total white people music”, but I’m a white people and although I’m usually happy to go out of that box, sometimes I need to get back to my roots.

Stable Song; but Gregory A Isakov.

The “Piragua” song from “In the Heights”.

“The Times, They are a Changin’” - Bob Dylan (As I read about the Russia probe and the disgusting tax change).

“Virginia Plain” - Roxy Music.

For most of my life I’ve known of this band but aside from a couple songs, I was unfamiliar with most of their work. Now, more than 40 years later, I’m catching up.
