“Scotland the Brave”
I woke up with “Silent Running” by Mike and the Mechanics playing on my mental jukebox. It’s going to be an Armageddon kind of day.
Thanks to iPod shuffle, “Rael” by The Who popped up and has been an earworm for the past couple of days. Wanted to share.
“Midnight For Maya” - Incendio
HIGH HOPES (Rubber Tree Plant Song) by Frank Sinatra
I binge-watched SCANDAL when it just hit Netflix, so Ain’t No Mountain High Enough now routinely plays in my head…
From Wet Leg, Rian Teasdale (redhead) & Hester Chambers (elvish blonde), from the Isle of Wight. Fun, catchy as hell & very well done, everything a good ear*worm should be
Right now, my mental jukebox is playing “No More Tears” by Ozzy Osborne.
Everyday Magic by My Morning Jacket.
It played relentlessly in the car on Spectrum radio during my week long trip.
Made the mistake of dredging up this song by Golden Earring after hearing that the band’s co-founder, George Kooymans died. Incipient earworm incoming:
Lovely Day lovely day lovely day lovely day
Bill Withers
*yeah, I know, I’ve “got a lot of growing up to do, mister”
And yeah, I know, it’s just “a waste of fucking time”
And yeah, I know, I’m “growing older” and my life is "unstable’
And yeah, it shows, but I could never give this up!*
" 4 chords, 3 words"* by Brutal Youth
*(I’m in love!)
This part of the song is such an earworm I’m constantly singing it.
LADY OF THE MOON by 2002
Tony Orlando & Dawn “Tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree”. OMG where did that come from?? Whats worse I remember most all of the words. W
hich of course leads to “Knock 3 times” arghh
Always loved the Four Tops (especially Levi Stubbs, lead vocals ). But recently started listening to the bass lines. Found out that was James Jamerson (an influence on McCartney and J.P. Jones).
Then I discovered a remix of Bernadette that starts with almost a minute of just the bass line with a bit of vocals over it! The whole thing is 8 minutes of bliss thanks to mosogotam… and now a welcome earworm!
There have been quite a few welcome earworms recently, and here’s mine. Ever since seeing (on TV) her perform this song at Glastonbury it’s been firmly lodged in my brain, and I’m fine with that. Beth Gibbons: Mysteries.
I would go so far as to recommend this for first responder treatment of hazardous earworms.

“Alley Cat” by Bent Fabric. I have no idea why.
