Rain, rain go away from the MMP

Much rain in my area, too.

Mrs. Plant arranged rock in the new to us 90 gallon marine tank, and I set up the sump and it’s accoutrements. I moved coral from the 55 and the 75 to the 90 over the weekend. I bought glass for a cover today on my lunch hour.
All is going very well; I expect something disastrous to occur at any moment.

Just got home. Saturday was a record breaking crowd for Knoebels for opening day but yesterday was cold and raining and TERRIFIC!!! I rode until I was sick of having fun; no lines. Had a great picnic with the coaster crowd and a birthday party with/for family. And I got to meet another Doper - Notheryinzer. Much fun!

Spidey - bicycle question. We hit a clearance sale to put a couple aside for next years toy drive. We saw a couple adult bikes with these really seriously fat tires - say 2 or better inches wide. Not real knobby though but almost as wide as some older dirt bike tires. What the heck is that kind of bike used for?

(This was a store closing and no one left knew crap about anything)

Howdy Y’all! Moanday and first of the month stuff have been survived. YAY! I had a relatively good day today and got lots done. Go Me! Dindin shall be snausage with carrots, N.O.T. and carrots plus cornbread. We’re also goin’ up to see JDD’s Bro this evenin’. The talk is he won’t make it through the week but well, we all know how those things can go. One never knows. Right now I feel like gettin’ up to see him as often as possible.

MetalMouse how goes or went the search for whatever that stuff is that made you go on a quest?

Damn.

**swampy **- this is the brother whose roomie was, um, a bit of a concern? I hope his last days are restful and full of kindnesses.

Big ball of fire in sky!! Puddles shrinking, till the next batch of storms move thru tonight. But for now, the house is open and the fresh air is most welcome!

**FCD **is abed. He hardly slept last night, so he took the day off. When he woke, he took the truck in for an oil change, and it turned out it needed 2 new tires. Of course - every time I beat down the balance on the VISA, something comes up… such is life. Anyway, when he gets up, I’ll figure out what we’ll do for supper. It’d be easy if he wants leftover soup from yesterday, or grilled cheese. The suspense is palpable!!

My figgerin’ was off - I thought Mothers Day was a week after it actually is and I thought my MIL would be here that day. Not that it makes a big difference. In fact, it’s nice to know that when she is here, we can go to breakfast on Sunday and not have to fight crowds for a table. So yay!

Home early as hubby is having A-Fib. We have a doctor appt in Miami on Wed with the heart Dr. Until then he is to take it easy which for him is almost impossible. Our scratch and dent Dr told him to just rest so we shall see. He is napping right now. There is no way anyone can keep going like he does. Not even a young man. It aggravates me that he brings these things on himself.

I shall try not to fuss at him. I really wish his cardiologist would tell him to at least slow down.

**Butters **- I’m married to someone who was told to quit motorcycle riding after the 3rd or 4th spinal surgery. I know what you’re dealing with. Put some sleepy pills in his oatmeal!

I was at least smart enough to quit after my stroke. I did start again 10 years later but ---------------

Vancouver in Springtime continues to be gorgeous and sunny, with more flowers than you can shake a stick at. I’m tired of shaking sticks, so I am contracting that out to 7 year old boys. The azaleas, holly bushes, lilacs, rhododendrons, etc are all out in full bloom.Good thing it is sunny. The dryer in my building is making very scary noises, and the last time the dryer was fixed the price went up. We have an unofficial pact in this house to ignore the dryer and use Old Mr Sun to get our clothes dry. Because while a working dryer would be handy, the washer is only a dollar, way cheaper than anywhere else!

I am making maple glaze salmon for supper tonight, but I don’t have any interesting vegetable to go with. I might hop down to the market and get some asparagus, but then again, maybe I won’t. What else might go well with salmon?

I’m a big fan of broccoli, but green beans or sugar snap peas are nice with salmon, too.

It’s clouding over and there’s a storm swirling about 25 miles from here - they’re talking about it on TV. It’ll probably pass north of us, but one never knows. Weather is weird.

Sauteed zucchini and mushrooms or sauteed green beans wit slivered almonds.

They’re called Fat Tire bikes - The massive volume of the tires allows you to run air pressures so low they barely register on a normal pump’s gauge. The resulting floatation enables them to roll over snow, sand, mud, wet roots, rocks, and other terrain that would otherwise be impassable.

They still left? How much?

Oh, one other thing - DIBS!

Howdy Y’all! We et dindin and then went to the nursin’ home to see Ron. He said our names and smiled when he saw us but that was all. His breathin’ seems to be shallow at least to me. OYKW said it sounds shallower than yestiddy and he’s a nurse so maybe so. We stayed a little bit but as he closed his eyes and went to sleep we left and spent a few minutes with his parents across the hall. It really does like he’ll go sometime this week.

OYKW is leavin’ Wednesday for the wilds of west Alabammy to visit and be with his mom for Mother’s Day. He’ll come back on Moanday. I shall leave sometime Firday mornin’ and head up to Ye Olde Home Towne to be with my mom. A feast is bein’ planned for Sattidy afternoon at mom’s. She insists on makin’ a ‘nanner puddin’ and who am I to stand in the way of an old lady’s wishes. Anywho everybody else is doin’ the major foodstuffs and she’s good with that.

If Ron does pass, the funeral will most likely be on Moanday. It’s already planned. He shall be cremated and a simple service will be held in the grave yard. Well, the mausoleum in the grave yard. Mausoleum is a hard word to spell.

OK, this has been a depressin’ enough post. Somebody come make with the merry and tom foolery we are most famous for doin’.

ETA: MOOOOOOM yes this is the same brother. Asshole Thing He Lived With is long gone.

**swampy **- mosey over to my FB page - there’s a video of my critters and you get to hear my voice. If that doesn’t cheer you up, nothing will!

Piko is [del]happy[/del] ecstatic to be the first balloon across the field.

Well, for one thing I didn’t get up at 0500 as I did on work days. Got up at 0430…

Drove about 400 miles in what turned out to be a fruitless search for the elusive Oscar Mayer Braunsweiger tubes. The places I know that have it require a full day, and I wanted to get back home to see the English Soccer league game between Tottenham and Chelsea at 2PM CST (it ended in a tie, which gave the championship to 5000-1 shot Leicester City). Also it appears that Interstate 24 is a thunderstorm magnet, there was lightens and boomins all the time I was on that road, but south of Nashville hardly a drop.

Did some paperwork (one part of my retirement funds I couldn’t apply for until I was officially retired), got a Doctor appointment for some vaccinations next week, nneed to go argue with my car insurer about the rate increase, and need to see my bank on a maturing CD, so at least for the first couple of days, I seem to have enough to do in my leisure years…

I would have to check; in fact I just may because I’m curious now. I want to say they were Mongoose and around $75.

Pt. II

Left house at 5:45 to drive to (near) finish to take transit to start of the race that began at 8am. 40,000 entrants (though due to forecast of upper 40°s & rain thousands wimped out & didn’t participate).

Start area has 300-350 of these (see here).
Swampy, it will warm your heart to know that I am a veteran racer. I am also good at math. I know that 40,000 [del]goes[/del] going (in this case) into 350 can sometimes overwhelm the supplies. & then getting back in line can be a bit of a drag (& time waster, too). Therefore, I threw a partial roll of this with me to the start, just in case. Someone did ask to borrow the other roll (duct tape) that I took with me.

Ooooh, I see a trip to Diggerland in your near future.

Hey, while you’re coming, can you throw my new bike in the car with you?

:frowning: The family has been called in for Ron. His breathin’ is very, very shallow and they’re sayin’ he won’t last the night. So, here I am at just about my usual bedtime not wantin’ to go to sleep until I hear sump’n. Whatever prayers, good thoughts, etc y’all might have that can be directed toward Ron and the family would be appreciated.

Spidey the balloon made me LOL. Thanks! Also, good for you bringin’ your own TP. Smart move.
