He’s supposed to be back next week. We’ll find out on Monday or Tuesday.
He may be taking an extended vacation with Bill O’Reilly.
She didn’t actually admit that. What she said was:
Still, linking Comey’s firing to the Russian investigation does seem like a blunder.
She loses a star for that.
I agree that this is pure bullshit, but as far as weaving her boss’ desired narrative goes, it’s quite slick.
Just as long as none of the reporters bother to call her on this BS by asking her to clarify exactly who she has spoken to and when.
It gets better. Her mother’s maiden name is Janet McCain.
In seriousness though, she is Mike Huckabee’s daughter.
Huh? She said that they removed Comey in order to bring the Russia investigation to an end. It’s right there in your quote.
Kind of.
I’d say her statement falls somewhere between *“We fired Comey’s ass to stop the investigation” *and *“We want the investigation to be conducted properly and completely and, incidentally, feel that in removing Comey we have removed an impediment to the proper conduct of the investigation.”*I think it can be interpreted in either direction depending on how someone wants to read into it.
Personally, I’m inclined to agree that it does sound like an inadvertent admission that Comey was canned because Trump just wants the investigation to go away, but I imagine that Sanders’ intention was more like the latter interpretation.
I find it off-putting that, as the face of the White House, she is so dressed-down and casual. I saw another post somewhere that said she dresses like a college student on laundry day waking up late for class. Simply dressing in basic corporate office attire would do wonders for her credibility, instead of walking in as the most casually dressed person in the room.
So would not shilling for Trump.
I’d like to see Aidy Bryant play her on SNL.
To me, it looked more like condescension than confidence.
I agree with that. But saying they nixed Comey so the investigation would be conducted differently is not substantially better than saying they nixed Comey so the investigation would end. The point is that they wanted to interfere with the investigation.
Mr. Spicer just took the podium in the Briefing Room. ABC News is airing it live, and it’s probably on C-Span as well.
So, you were saying? :smack:  :dubious:
It’s not the weekend. Awfully convenient he was needed at the Pentagon just when shit was hitting the fan.
I saw a story earlier that despite the fact he was supposed to be at the Pentagon, he was seen on the White House grounds.
I will see if I can find it again.
And what about the claims in this thread that Mr. Spicer had been “benched”? Someone taking vacation/PTO/leave/whatever the White House calls it is not being “benched”.
And your own claim, made as a declarative statement of fact:
You didn’t say “I read”, “I think”, or use any other qualifier.
He’s only been gone for one week, not two.
You (generic you) are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.
As I quoted, reservists serve a two week period once a year, a weekend once a month.
This was neither a weekend or a two week period. There’s been no mention of why his service doesn’t match the norm nor what he does at the Pentagon that requires a Reservist.
Since he was seen at the WH(twice) when he was supposed to be doing his service, then what’s true?
Of course, this Administration has no problem with dodging military service. Witness that Spicer has been skipping his monthly weekend service.
It wouldn’t be any trouble for Trump to kick him out of sight and claim it’s his Reservist duty.
It’s still interesting that this anomalous service came right after he got backed into the bushes.
So we’re doing mere speculation, instead of facts. Got it.
There are Naval bases in the D.C. Metro area; perhaps he did his reserve duties during the day, and is allowed to return home during the evening or a half day on Friday. That would explain how he’s been, as you claim, at other events.
Except for the falsehoods, she did pretty well the other day. For the first time. Her earlier appearances on TV have been awful.
All in all, and I’m not joking here, I think Spicer is better at his job.
Which forum is this?
Now you’re speculating. Where are your facts?
Yes, I’m aware of which forum this is. However, facts are always appreciated on the Straight Dope, but most of this thread is based on speculation, so that’s what I went with.
