this thread has gotten strange.
as much as i really don’t want to derail this thread again, i just have to mention something else. i don’t get all the claims that i don’t punctuate. now, before those of you who are like that start reading back and linking to posts, i know there’s a couple of spots where i left it off. leaving off the period in a one word post doesn’t seem like a huge crime. as a rule, i do try to punctuate and use proper grammar, and while i make mistakes (who doesn’t) the comparison to chat room/text speak really falls flat. hell, i don’t even use shortcuts when i text. i cringe when i get messages that say “what r u doing?”
We cringe when you fail to capitalize. What is the difference?
i also cringe when people don’t at all address the point i was trying to make, and just repeat the argument that’s been made like 50 times already. well, it’s cool. if it makes you feel better about yourself, knock yourself out, i suppose.

not that the implicit will see this(and i’m truly in despair over it) but did that rule about the ignore list get changed or something? i thought we weren’t supposed to say or imply posters were on our list?

“So-and-so is on my ignore list” is treated as an insult. You’re allowed to insult other posters in the Pit, but not in other forums.
However, you can ignore someone, or not read them, without having them on your ignore list. The way you do that is to skip over the annoying person’s posts the old fashioned way, by just not reading them.
Or, you could give up and use standard orthography. Except it gives you a little tingle when people get annoyed at you for not using standard orthography, which is why you continue to do it. If you want to be taken as a troll (that is, someone who is annoying on purpose because it amuses them to be annoying), then keep on keeping on. Like I said, I’m not trying to berate you, I’m trying to help you. This assumes you actually want to be helped.

why is it that there’s the assumption that i need help? i’m amused by the fact that by my posts on this board, some of you think you’ve got me all figured out. you’ve got my number. you know what makes me tick. armchair psychologists of the sdmb, unite!
i also find it really, really interesting that long term posters who use a similar style as me interacts just fine with the board with no lynch mob in re capitalization. when i do it, though? i suddenly need help, am a troll, an attention whore, an idiot, and on and on and on. i think that speaks a lot more about some of the board members than it does about me.

I have nothing against her. But in another thread (Why pay down long-term debt? in GQ, I think) she offered her predictions of massive economic meltdown in the near future, hyperinflation, and dismissed economists as know-nothings. I asked her the basis for certainty about these future events (study economics, maybe?) but she hasn’t responded.
That’s all I got, but maybe it’ll get us back on track…
Gist…listening to ‘geezer’ music is letting the side down, and old men are icky, 'cuz…'cuz…I dunno. The fact that she keeps bringing that up suggests you’re supposed to be attracted to the people who created the music or summat, but that doesn’t really make a lot of sense. (Plus, you know, ignores that a lot of older people are totally hot.)
