been going on 2 months now. Should not take more than a week or 2 to find and fix the issue. Which makes me think it’s not going to be fixed
What happened yesterday was a new problem. The board basically blew chunks of MySQL all over the place. We believe it had something to do with the housekeeping stuff the system does at the end of a month on top of all the usual housecleaning it does every night. Some combination of something occurred during those procedures and some tables crashed and could not be repaired or restored.
It took some time to find the problems and get things back to working order. And of course it was the weekend and we do not have 24/7 techs hanging out for us. We never have.

Took me five minutes just to open a thread this morning.
I’m sure this idea’s been kicked around but maybe it’s time for a paypal feature that offers premium membership. Non-paying members would still have access to some threads (maybe X number of posts per week or month), but members would have unlimited access for as little as a $10 or 25 donation per year.
I’d probably cough it up.

At precisely 7:32AM Chicago time today, after normal behavior for at least a half-hour, the Dope abruptly stopped loading any pages for 5 minutes, eventually leading to the Server Error page due to timeout. Now everything looks back to normal.
So if Tubadiva’s theory is correct and it is related to automatic maintenance, there must be a maintenance procedure that happens at 7:32AM.
As I tried to preview this at 7:40AM, everything stopped for 30 seconds. Let’s see what happens when I try to post…

I just got a timeout error, but it worked when i tried again.
If it is too expensive to fix just be honest and tell everyone . At this point the problem should be known. As I said I will gladly pay for a fix up to $50.

What does “The board basically blew chunks of MySQL all over the place” mean? Never heard of anything like that. Whatever it is, it seems to indicate major database problems.
I don’t fit, either.
Do you know if the issue is:
lack of hardware resources?
code you can edit?
code you can’t edit (need the owner’s staff to deal with)?
bad data in the database?
something else?
Just trying to think what might be helpful going forward.
Just chiming in to complain about this. I’ve never been a stutterer but I’m starting to feel like I am now.

Several error pages a bit earlier today.
However, a little while ago (and after the errors earlier today), I opened about twenty threads at once (going down ‘new posts’ and opening a new tab for each one I wanted to look at), and every one of them opened just fine.
If I don’t come back to this, this posted with no problem (though admittedly if there’s a problem I may not be able to come back to it instantly.)
