Yeah, I won’t post again here. But the timeouts are happening quite often. At least once for every 30 min of browsing. Hopefully this gets fixed.
I got a 504 in the last 5 minutes.
Prior to that I hadn’t encountered any 50x in a long time. – ETA, it was one week ago, posted above at post # 539.
SDMB uses some 3rd-party server (Google IIUC). Is it not likely that the timeouts are just caused by overloading of that server? E.g. if SDMB is paying for 3rd-class service and needs 2nd-class?
SDMB has been unusable for nearly nine solid minutes, until just now.

I find that saving edits to posts is particularly likely to cause an error.
A little while ago I was scrolling through posts–not even attempting to reply–and I got the Time Out 504 error. 
OK, that’s a fluke, but the Time Out thing is driving me crazy. Why is this still happening?
Now I am getting time outs trying to log in. As well as when previewing, posting, and clicking on the results of searches.

Whoa the time-outs have come back thick and fast this morning.
Been particularly bad this afternoon. Very slow and 504 errors
All of these things. It’s very frustrating. I’ve gotten in the habit of requesting something (page load, post, etc) and then doing something else for a bit. Several times a day, I’ll get a 502 error.
I’ve tried 3 different browsers.
Many errors just loading the site today.
I might suggest to the powers that be that you temporarily disable the edit feature, since that seemed to cause the issues more regularly and could be a source of the problem. If things improve, it would be a diagnostic and probably indicate table locking issues. If not, it was no great loss. We’ve lived without edit before.

That’s about how long it has been happening with me. Usually it is just sluggish, but the gateway 504 timeout happens quite a bit too. I’ve tried different browsers, different times of the day, not signing in vs signing in, haven’t found any tricks that may help. So just go elsewhere on the net.
I’m experiencing the same. And it’s not just in long threads. It’s happening with new threads that have less than twenty posts.
I’m one of those whom it usually happens to only occasionally, but today it’s been bad even for me.
