Nelson has had his first walk of the day, we went back to bed to sleep in, thengot up, stripped the bed (he wasn’t much help with that one), started a load of laundry and fixed breakfast. Now it’s off to remake the bed, vaccuum, mop and rearrange the laundry room. Sis and BIL should be in around supper.
I guess I’ll just put this here, because it’s been bugging me for a while, but it doesn’t warrant a Pitting, but does @Drunky Smurf ever do anything on here besides engage in reductio ad absurdum?
**Butters **- the wigs are enroute!! The woman at the shipping store said FedEx will get the box today. Let’s see how fast they get to you!
Two loads of laundry on the line, the third in the washer. One more to go. We went to lunch after dropping off the box, then I stopped at an Amish stand for some 'lopes and peaches.
I think the rest of the afternoon will mostly be chillage. And laundry. But mostly chillage.
**RA **- I’m not familiar with Drunky’s postings so I can’t comment. Well, I suppose I can, but I won’t. Carry on.
Men don’t enjoy cooking unless it is physically dangerous.
I gave up when I ran out of charcoal and began using my late FIL’s gas grill. It tastes almost as good.
Anyway, the idea is to have coals instead of flames. Scrape a hole in the middle if you want indirect heat, and pile them up if you want it to be really, really hot.
Consult Swampy on grilling, despite the facts that he abhors Brussels sprouts and likes succotash, however one spells it.
I think I’ve found the perfect spot for the BooFae gathering. There’s a glass-roofed courtyard in the National Portrait Gallery with tables and a cafe. It’s at a Metro stop, so inclement weather Won’t be an issue. Plus you’re surrounded by culture and stuff!! It opens at 11:30, so perfect for lunch.
I’ll do a little more research, but I’m thinking this is the place. If so, I’ll get a thread up tomorrow or Monday. Yay for a BooFaeFest!!
Home for the day. Overall, things went well. We got started much later then expected, but managed to get over to the Harley shop to spend some time with my dad (although we did miss out on the bbq) before headed out to the community play-date. We got there with only an hour left, but it worked out well. They let us in without paying (though would have only been $5) and the kid got to run around to her heart’s content for about an hour. My only complaint is that is started raining right as we were getting ready to leave, so I got soaked running out to the car. The center where it was being held had a covered pick up area, so the rest of the family stayed dry.
After picking up prescriptions and groceries, we are done and I’m looking forward to dinner.
I’m only allowed decaf so good coffee is out of the question for me. But I’ll keep sending hugs your way anyway.
On other fronts, got both of the towers of the desk through their first sanding and waiting to hear from a friend about making a couple replacement parts. And trying to find out what a couple of the parts do. I think they have to do with the roll but I’m not sure.
HEY EVERYONE ---- DID YOU HEAR STICKS HAS NO IDEA HOW TO GRILL ON CHARCOAL??? DID YOU EVER!!!
Almost — more “the illusion of being physically dangerous”. As a rule the worse you do is burn off your arm hairs. Or maybe char your Martin Luther “Singe Boldly” apron a little.
Supper was FCD’s leftover catfish from when we went to Texas Roadhouse - it was kinda meh. I also had a big bowl of watermelon chunks, which was pretty good.
And I notice I forgot to put the date for BooFaeFest - Aug 26.
Inches away from death, and you are jocular.
How does Martin Luther come into this? We aren’t grilling theses.
Would you believe there is a state law that a fire truck must be within 100 yards before I light off the grill?
Would you believe county law?
City?
A neighborhood Very Good Idea?
Home! Over 500 miles in the cah since Thursday afternoon. Today was full of “F’s”; started at friend’s, went to the Faire, then to the final day of the Fair/Festival for a flight with the feds. Phew! I’m fried!
(more details [del]tomorrow[/del] later today.)
Ruble, can you man the pumps & I’ll handle the hose. Remember to over-pressurize, just to be [del]safe[/del] more entertained.
I am tired. It was a nice party. Glad I went and glad to be home.
I rather enjoy Drunky’s posts, I don’t know why he upsets some people.
Always remember - you control your online experience. If you want to get rid of somebody - poof - you send them to the cornfield.
I wish that feature was available in real life.
I had a terrible night, and I’m not sure why. I had a hard time falling asleep and I kept waking up. Maybe it was the caffeine I had at lunch, but that should have worked its way out of my system by midnight… Luckily, all I have to do today is connect with my mom via TeamViewer to help her out with her new computer. All my chores were finished yesterday. OK, except for emptying the dishwasher, but that takes all of 3 minutes, so it doesn’t really count.
I agree about sending certain people to the cornfield IRL. Luckily, it was handled for me most recently. The boss who I thought was a royal pain ended up being fired/quitting/something. He works for a contractor who does some work for our company, so I still see him occasionally, but since I don’t report to him, it’s as effective as a cornfield.
I hate that it’s dark again when I get up. I liked a nice, bright 5AM. As we roll towards autumn and winter, I’m dealing with darker and darker commutes. Circle of life and all that, right?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse. We shall see. Plans today are to deheathenate and make “dinner” later this afternoon. The weddin’ was nice but the reception not so much. After standin’ around for almost an hour and a half waitin’ for the weddin’ party to show up and not even bein’ offered sump’n to drink at least sis and I left. We came back to town, got some Mexican comestibles and came back to sis’s place. I made cornbread and bizkits (frozen) and made up the dressin’ for today. We were told not to expect much at the reception and were not disappointed. :dubious:
