Just a simple question, really: what’s the point of having the “go” button next to the menu if simply selecting a new forum directs you there? I have never hit the go button in this new version of the SDMB, though it was necessary on the old one.
My guess would be that in some browsers selecting from the drop-down list does not automatically activate the link, so the go button was included for people running those browsers.
Ah. It never occured to me that it was a browser thing - i just thought it was something to do with the new board software Thanks!
You are correct. Also, sometimes the browser gets “confused” and you have to click “Go” anyhow - I have no idea why, but have experienced this on my Board.
Another use for the “go” button is if you want to go right back to the main page of the forum you’re already in, but want it to be a refreshed page instead of using the back button on your browser. At least that’s what I use it for, even though I don’t have to touch it when changing forums.
