Republican Debate 2/6/16

They care about the useful “befores” - military, fetuses…
The deadwood “afters” - the wounded & damaged, babies & children, not so much…

Thanks for the warning!

Ya see, that was always my problem, from joining the Teen Aged Republicans because of a girl to being willing to make allowances for the peccadilloes of Heather Locklear and Lynda Carter. :o

I imagine he’ll do that to JEB! next Thanksgiving.

It’s part & parcel of the GOP drumbeat for the last 36 years: America was great, but somehow is not anymore.

Wait a minute. Mary Katherine…Ham?

If you were planning on becoming a public figure, wouldn’t you first DO something about that name?

It’s good enough for Karl Rove.

That, and it fits in with the whole “Obama & the Dems want to undermine/weaken/destroy America” narrative that the GOP appears to have settled on, to the point that dissent would disqualify a candidate. I don’t recall even Paul (who dissented on the warhawkery as such) dissenting on that point, though I don’t recall him mentioning it either.

Why is it controversial for Maddow to moderate a debate, when Fox hosts debates on two different networks, and Ham is a questioner in this one? Is this a one way street? How can this be consistent with a putative left wing bias in media?

She has an appropriate last name, anyway. Fits both her style and appearance.

Exactly; my first thought, too. How can you be a public Republican figure and use that name?

Her co-workers probably put “Ham Rove” pics up on the bulletin board and giggle wildly.

And Jon Hamm
Mia Hamm
Ura Hamm
Ima Hamm
Hamm Hamm

Might be helpful in the general, but is that really an advantage in the Republican primary?

1-Advocates defunding Planned Parenthood.
2-Supported and signed a law making it illegal for rape crisis centers to point out to rape victims that if they become pregnant, abortion is an option.
3-Advocates removing carbon emissions and coal-fired plants from the EPA and giving pollution control to the states.
4-Signed a bill to do eliminate the state’s renewable energy program.
5-Supports fracking in Ohio state parks and forests.
6-Signed legislation allowing the Governor to sell state mineral rights to the highest bidder (though the program was never implemented).
7-Supports the Keystone pipeline.
8-Advocates selling all of the state’s prisons to private contractors.
9-Opposes medical marijuana and the legalization of marijuana. Thinks the President should somehow “stomp out” (his words) marijuana.
10-Opposes public employee collective bargaining. Opposes collective bargaining for in-home medical carers and repealed by executive order his predecessor’s order which implemented it.
11-Supports a federal Balanced Budget Amendment.
12-Supports a school voucher program and state funding of private schools.
13-Supports the teaching of intelligent design.
14-Supports sending US ground troops to fight ISIS.
15-Opposes the Iran treaty.
16-Supports more military spending.
17-Opposes same sex marriage.
18-Wants to remove the 14th Amendment’s birthright citizenship provision.
19-Supports a border wall.
20-His initial cabinet of 22 members was all-white until criticisms led him to begin appointing minorities.
21-Has supported and signed laws limiting voting rights.

On another note, why do the Republicans call ISIS/ISIL “The Caliphate”? Weren’t they the ones complaining because Obama says ISIL claiming it was to confuse people about his talking about ISIS?

That is reasonable and thoughtful.

Compared to the rest of the asylum.

Okay, other than those few things…

Wait, wait, wait, if there’s anything we’ve learned from Marco Rubio, it’s that Obama DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing. He DOES know what he’s doing…He **<Runtime Error!

What’s interesting about Rubio’s contention is that he HAS to insist that Obama is a great, evil mastermind, becuase if Obama is incompetent(and I believe he is) then that means Rubio, with a similar background, is similarly unready(which he is).

And, as we all know, your track record is stellar when it comes to politics.

So, pretty much the standard right-wing wrongheadedness. He was never in danger of getting my vote, but thanks for the info.

Good point (except your parenthetical assertion about Obama’s competence). I hadn’t thought of it that way.
