Employers can have separate policies for men and women, i.e. dress codes, bathrooms. Federal courts have ruled that is not considered discrimination on the basis of sex, so long as the policies are not too one-sided. It is currently being litigated whether forcing transgender employees to use the wrong bathroom, pronouns, dress code, is considered sexual harassment. Though, the Trump administration is likely to stop defending that interpretation of Title VII.

Now that there are many widely-known cases of male-born people identifying as women while making it quite clear that their bodies are still fully male (eg: Jessica Yaniv, Danielle Muscato, Francisco Javier, Planet Fitness Person, Rose Henderson, Tyler Porter, California YMCA person and so on and so forth)
Apparently nothing bad has happened to these people, despite everyone around them knowing that they are male and claim a woman gender identity. And none of them seem to be acting like they think it’s a threat. So it doesn’t seem like this legislation is the sort of thing that a trans person should fear though it may of course annoy you.

The specific rule attempting to be implemented here is: don’t go in places where female people are taking their clothes off unless you’re female. (also, don’t participate in female sports unless you’re female)
Many female people are very invested in that rule. The trans community has been trying to get around that rule by any means possible, including explicitly stating that they won’t abide by it if authorities attempt to force the issue. Thus, authorities are now tightening up their procedures for ensuring that people obey this rule.
Claiming a female gender identity while actually being known by everyone to be male can’t be that dangerous, or you wouldn’t get self-identified transwomen going so far out of their way to insist upon it as to appear fully naked, with penis, in women’s shelters and changerooms. This talk of being “sent to the camps” is fearmongering. If you want there to be less official insistence on documents with accurate sexes on them, the path to that is clear - if you’re not female, don’t go places where female people take their clothes off, and don’t encourage other not-female people to think they have the right to do that either.

Meanwhile, as mentioned, the new crew in the White House openly and brazenly promised to undo all progress in trans rights and are working towards just that, while their acolytes across the different statehouses and Department headquarters are just throwing about whatever they can come up in that general direction because as usual there is no one single comprehensive plan but just a scattershot approach.

Specifically about the Republicans, MAGAs and Religious Fundamentalists share a vision that there is this fixed natural/god-given order, where everyone has their place fixed and decreed from above, and everyone has to stay in their place and if you don’t fit into that then you have NO choice but to bite the bullet and grind through it. That there is no right to be happy in this earthy life in a way contrary to that order or stepping out of our predetermined place, and we all just have to tough it out, too bad.

Not particularly. Sex-based categorisation says that people are allowed to go into sex-separated spaces, based on what their sex is. The normal opinion is that sex doesn’t change, even if you change your outward appearance. I wouldn’t become Arnold Schwarzenneger by putting on a latex Arnie suit, even if it was a really really good one that fooled everyone, I wouldn’t become male by the same mechanism, and nobody becomes male by taking drugs or having surgery that has a similar effect.
