Resolved: Happy New MMP 2013!

Howdy all.

My resolutions are to lose weight, exercise and ride my bike, only buy one kind of bread i.e. only loaf wheat bread and no buns. If I eat a burger or hot dog it’ll be on regular bread. We throw out too much bread.

Save enough cash to purchase a new car outright.

Today is our 29th anniversary. I was 24 he was 32. He is a good man. So since the day 29 years ago we resolved to stay home on NYE and celebrate our anniversary.
That one we have kept with the exception of one year when hubbster was taking care of his ill Mother in another state.

One more resolution is I will never bitch about the weather again as it is a glorious 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

I will resolve to start a new MMP one day and post more often. I always read though.

Happy New Year to all!!

Happy Butterversary!

Howdy from da cave. Actually I have been home a while. I called it quits at three p.m. cause it was just daid at the irkplace. So, pizza has been ingested, collards are cookin’ away, peas have been “looked over” and are doin’ a quick soak. In about 45 minutes I’ll stick 'em in the slow cooker and the greens will be all cooked. Go Me!

We have about two inches of snow here. Planning to stay inside, which is a good thing after an absolutely shitty day. One of my students contacted me that her father, who had terminal cancer, had passed away. Expected, but still, the kid is a 6th-grader, and is pretty upset. Adopted a new dog for my birthday last Friday, and she tore up a sheep today. Animal control had to put down both of them. 2013 has to be better than this.

I resolve to make no resolu … oh, uh, oops.

Happy New Year Mumpers!

2012 was tough one in the Tower, which is why I wasn’t such a good mumper, but not without its charms. I look forward to 2013 and wish y’all the best. And to being a better mumper!

{{{limey}}} sorry about your dog and the sheep. Poor kid!

Yikes. Not a good end, indeed. :frowning:

Here’s to happiness in 2013.

Happy Butterversary! You’re about 3 weeks behind me - Dec 9, 1983!

Supper was good - honey baked turkey, broccoli, instant smashed N.O.T. First real meal I’ve made in weeks! It was good. I plan to knit the night away, and if I’m still awake at 10, it’ll be a miracle!

**{{{limey}}} **- what a horrible week you’ve had! 2013 has got to be better!

2012 be gone

Howdy all been working all day, we hung 2 flat panel tvs, ran electrical and signal from the attic through the wall, fun. I don’t generally do work in clients houses but he is a good one so an exception was made. Cut the you know what out of my scalp hopefully it will stop bleeding soon. Not whining I work I bleed just the way it goes.

Anyhoo Happy NYE and new year Mumpers stay safe and have fun.

Jim

Caught me, didn’t you?

I hesitate to ask, but what kind of peas?

Why flytrap! Black-eyed peas of course! One must eat them for good luck on NYD. Peas are all soaked and have been rinsed. I placed ‘em in the slow cooker crock with some pieces of ham and set it in the fridge. Tomorrow mornin’ they shall cook and be black-eyed pea perfection by one p.m. which is eatin’ time tomorrow. Can’t wait! YUM!

I predict we shall make it until nine p.m. before sleepy time overcomes us.

Black-eyed peas. It’s a New Year’s tradition in the South

Yes, I know, but he is meshugana enough to cook fresh green peas in a slow cooker.
Just wanted to check.

Sir you insult me! We shall meet at three p.m. tomorrow (fiveish if I need a nap). We shall toss banana peels at each other from twenty paces. Then we shall both rush forward and the first one to slip on a banana peel shall be declared the victor.

Really!!! Fire crackers already!!! Jeez!

Dammit.

As the Challenged, the choice of weapons is mine.
Brick bats at a hundred yards.
My Second shall be Rosie.

Rosie…please make the arrangements. After six PM this time, dammit.

I read that as bric-brac, so I thought you’d toss Hummel figurines at each other.

Just got back from the Family Horsepistol about an hour ago. Now that I have washed that Nasty Horsepistol Smell from me and consumed another $60 ham sandwich, I’m feeling a bit better. Still don’t know if I’m going to sleep tonight–I sure didn’t much last night. At least New Year’s is generally slow until 11 at irk.

My dad’s doing a bit better. His left foot’s is turning a shade of not-blue which is good. He’s still in ICU because they’re worried about his kidneys, what with The Diabeetus and all. He’s on some really good drugs and had at least two different anti-nauseals while I was there because the good painkillers make him sick to his stomach. He’s still flopping around on the bed because his leg still hurts–at least a 6-7 today. Yesterday I heard it was too serious for numbers. According to Older Sister, there was a good amount of writhing. She said it was worse than labor, and she’s had three children! She also said it was a good thing I wasn’t there. Judging by her descriptions of IV’s being pulled out I’d say yes it was. I had to concentrate very hard on my crocheting while they were medicating him today. The backs of my hands are extremely sensitive. (That’s where I got all my IVs. Never touch the backs of my hands.)

I finally got a coherent story on what happened. It was a blood clot that broke loose and got caught in the aneurysm behind his knee that stopped the blood flow to his lower leg. His foot is super swollen and they’re trying their best to save it. The aneurysm was just one of those super-nice ways your body suddenly decides to hate you–nothing anyone could have done. The blood clot is currently being machine-gunned with Heparin.

So it’s still a waiting game to see what’s going to happen. If he could just dull the pain enough to sleep a while that would help immensely.

I think Flytrap and Swampy need to square off with squid and chocolates at 20 paces…

Did a whirlwind day trip to Cottonfield County to deliver the last of the Christmas presents we had, leaving a trail of happy kids wherever we went. Also met the newest denizen of The Property Formerly Known As The VunderLair, and filled him in on lots of details he didn’t know about the place. He is worthy of the property
