Retro Games Deserving of a Remake

You mean something like Dune 2000?

I’m nervous because the sequels have been so mediocre, but there hasn’t been one on PC since '99, and no Star Wars flight games of any kind on PC or platform since '03. Ten years! Some simple multiplayer missions would really make for a great game, and we’ve really developed the technology now.

Great call on Darklands, I thought I was one of the few people to even remember it.

Sentinel Worlds is the game I’d most like to see re-done. Then Space 1899 & MegaTraveller & Twilight 2000
I actually didn’t like the X-Com remake but I keep holding out hope :frowning:

  1. Warsong - Sega Genesis
  2. The Magic of Scheherazade - NES
  3. Wizardry - NES (There’s a PS3 reboot but it sucks).
  4. Phantasy Star IV - Sega Genesis

I was going to say Star Control 2, but that game is perfect as it is. There’s really no improving on that

Conquest of the New World

Play Wasteland 2. Fallout 1 = Wasteland remake/re-imagining for all intents and purposes.
I’m still not quite sure why they’re remaking Wasteland; the Fallout series pretty much took care of that.

I was tickled to see a remake of Karateka was released two days ago. Same guy involved too.

Here you go.

TIE Fighter, especially, was a sensational game.

This is the first game I thought of, too.

Pinball Construction Set

  1. Grim Fandango.
  2. Dune 2.
  3. MoO.

I’ll echo the praise for Interstate '76. The sequel sucked to high heaven but the original game was fun.

Goddammit! That’s what I opened this thread to say!

Let me just leave this here…

Karateka official trailer

Lunar Rescue. It’s an old Mac Plus game which combines the mechanics of Lunar Lander with combat, looting, and trading. The overall goal is to keep various moon colonies from starving while finding all of the pieces of a malfunctioning control computer.

I don’t remember if I ever managed to beat it back in the day, but it was a lot of fun. It could be even better now, with stepped-up graphics and complexity.

Going way old school:

Asteriods
Pac-Man

Atari Adventure

I would love to see System Shock and SS2 remade, and then do a proper sequel in SS3.

As much as I loved Bioshock, it just didn’t have the same impact on me as SS2 did. Never got around to play SS1. I’ve installed both games multiple times on newer hardware, but I just couldn’t get into the story with the clunky controls of SS1 and SS2 crashed on me so often I gave up.

they remake pac-man every other year it seems like.

the 4 player versus pac man game in arcades is a lot of fun
