Okay. You all know the part of the movie when they are doing the games? And Takashi is doing the tricycle race while drunk? What is the song that is playing? I’ve read that its the song Daisy Bell (Bicycle built for two) sung in Japanese. If it is does anyone know the lyrics.
I wasn’t sure if I should ask this in Cafe Society or G.Q.
Oh and when I mean what are the lyrics, I mean in Japanese. I want to sing it to my boyfriend who thinks this part is hilarious.
I know I could just go rent the damn movie, but I’m lazy.
Deijii, deijii
“hai” to itte yo–
bo–ku no kokoro wa
kimi no yume miru–
sasayaka da–keredo
futa–ri de-- noreba
jitensha
aozora
soyokaze to asobu–
Loose translation:
Daisy, Daisy
Say “yes!”
My heart
Dreams of you.
It’s not much to look at,
But if we ride it together…
A bicycle
The blue sky
Playing with the breeze.
The “–” are where you should elongate the vowel to make the lyrics fit the rhythm. If you want to learn to sing it, you should probably try singing it along with the movie if you have it.
Also, remember that when you sing “jitensha,” the “n” gets its own beat. ji-te-n-sha.
On second thought, maybe it will be easier for you to learn if I write it like this:
Daisy Daisy
Deiji Deiji
Give me your an swer do
“hai” to it te yo
I’m half crazy
bo ku no kokoro wa
All for the love of you
ki mi no yu me mi ru
It won’t be a sty lish mar riage
sa sa ya ka ke re do
I can’t af ford a car riage
fu ta ri de no re ba
But you’ll look sweet
ji te n sha
U pon the seat
a o zo ra
Of a bi cy cle built for two
so yo ka ze to a so bu
Hope the spacing comes out right. Otherwise this isn’t going to work. Just sing so all the syllables match up. Note that the “ki” on line four actually comes in a beat earlier than the “all” would in the English version.
Kyomara, if you type it out in a .txt file, or in Courier New it will work, but you have to put it in {code}{/code} brackets ( with instead of {} ), like so:
Mary had a little lamb
ou i a n am en
Note: the above is jibberish, as I speak only english…
