I am wondering why all the people I know who’ve never been vaxxed for covid have never gotten sick.
A lot of people seem to brush off what is likely covid as “just a cold” and refuse to get tested.
How do you know that they haven’t had it? Mild cases of covid may be mistaken for a cold, flu, allergies, or just a couple of days of feeling vaguely crappy. Some people have no symptoms at all. Lots of people have undoubtedly had it who don’t know themselves that they had it.
Especially if you’re one of the people who don’t want to believe that covid is a thing.
Probably because you (a) have absolutely no way of knowing the vaccination status of everyone you know and (b) have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not they actually got covid?
The fact @SuntanLotion also mostly hangs out with folks who are mostly “underserved” medically to put it mildly, it follows those folks have no idea what illnesses they may or may not have had.
Some possibilities:
A. They are lying to you - they have gotten sick
B. They had covid and brushed it off “I wasn’t THAT sick”
C. It’s common to have Selective memory: people have a tendency to only remember certain information while forgetting the rest. Perhaps you actually do know people who were not vaxxed who did get sick
D. You’re repeating a common anti-vax meme
Yeah. They’re not going to go get tested for it unless they get so sick that they land up in a hospital and aren’t given much choice.
That is a good point. I hadn’t had it til recently and had thought it was a cold; runny nose and fatigue. Its good to know it isn’t as awful as it started out to be.
Explain underserved. You don’t know who I hang out with.
Even when it started out, something like half of the cases didn’t have any symptoms. It’s a hugely variable disease in how hard it hits folks: Ranging from “nothing” to “dead” is about the maximum amount of variability you can have.
People who can’t afford to go to the doctor generally don’t go. From what I understand of your life, that describes you and most of your friends.
In the medical industry those people are called “underserved populations”. Because in the medical industry they believe everyone ought to have excellent total medical care. It’s just half of the political establishment and all of the insurance industry that think differently.
I am on Medicaid as I assume, a lot of poor people are, and I am thankful. I would never be able to afford medical care and it should be free to all who need it.
I’ve been coughed at on bus’s for years and I think I got covid from someone at church.
The library gives out free tests so thats how I knew I had it, and now I know I don’t.
ETA- my ex friend, maganut says the vaccine is meant to kill swathes of people and he won’t touch anyone who’s been vaxxed cause its catching. I told him I was glad he felt that way, I am not missing out by not having him touch me.
It still is that awful, for some people. It never was awful, for some other people.
But overall it isn’t now as awful for as many people – partly because by now so many people are vaccinated, or have already had it, so that many people have some resistance; and partly because we’ve learned more about how to treat it.
It wasn’t as awful for you as it has been for many others.
In fact, the fact that it wasn’t so awful was part of the reason why it was so awful. All of those asymptomatic folks were still spreading it. Asymptomatic carriers do tend to be less contagious, but not nearly to the degree as with most infectious diseases.
I wouldn’t believe them for a minute.
Thats an odd statement. The official narrative must be believed at all costs.
Okay. They are all lying, you know that without even knowing them.
Yep. Either they are lying or they got sick and are so delusional that they convinced themselves they got “something that was going around”, but not covid. Happened to a few people I know who got the first vaccination, but never boosters and never took precautions. Some were pretty sick for weeks, but never got tested. One person’s cardiovascular issues worsened after getting “something that was going around”. Some won’t even admit they were sick at all.
People were fed misinformation by a certain powerful person.
Lots and lots of people believed it and spread the virus from ignorance.
If you believe videos of coughing screaming unmasked karens on YouTube, it may have a malicious intent involved.
