I have been on this forum since quite some time. It and many of the people thereon are important to me. I have met old friends and new friends here. I have enjoyed myself and vented my anger. I have fallen in lust and fallen in love.
I am not going to let some idiot insult me in the vilest fashion cloaked behind a decent vocabulary. That or leaving a place I’ve been longer than s/he are not acceptable options.

I think if you honestly review the threads in which I’ve dealt with His4ever, you’ll find I was exceedingly patient and polite, until she finally proved to be impervious to reason.
Let’s look at her intial contribution to the thread discussing whether the United Methodist Church is moving towards acceptance.
So setting up an analogy where we’re descibed as children for questioning her interpretation is not insulting? Implying that we can’t read English and are making excuses for poor behavior aren’t insulting to adults?
Let’s not forget, too, that the frustration with His4ever was about more than her stance on homosexuality. She managed to insult and make patently false claims against Mormons and Catholics.

My point was the general tenor of UncleToby’s debate. The posts there precluded the calm, rational debate you claim happened.
And have you seen me disagree with anyone about His4ever’s pitting? You haven’t. I’m in full agreement with how she was treated.
I think insisting on the connotations of a word where the connotation is specifically repudiated, is small ground on which to pit anyone. If someone called me “Sinister,” I would say, yes, I am left handed, so what? If someone called me sinister, instead of “Sinister,” I would ask for a cite. Getting up in arms over semantics is an overreaction, and smacks of hypersensitivty, IMHO. [shrug]
