Road Trip! - An Automotive MMP

Pretty good thanks. we got back at 0430. And I still have some liver in my cirrhosis.

Howdy from the liberry! I have accomplished mowage. I got cleanded up and decided to go to the liberry and since I’m here, I decided to compute a while cause why not.

doggio glad your cirrhosis survived.

I am having one of those mornings. Usually I work 8-4, and my cow-orker goes 9-5. But today, we had to switch so she could make an appointment. Which meant I got an extra hour of sleep (nicely offset by staying up an extra hour later last night), but the whole flow of my day is ruined. I have no idea what time it is, and I feel like I can’t finish anything.

Ooooh, that’s not good; may I recommend trying to drown it in alcohol tonight.

Olympics question: One of the events on NBCSN Prime time tonite is “Women’s fencing, team epee gold medal”. How does this work?

Is it a series of individual matches or is it a true team event, in the style of the old pirate / swashbuckler movies, where after you defeat your opponent, you swing on a rope over to your teammate & the two of you gang up on their opponent?
I would definitely tune in for the latter!

Ah, lunch time. The brief respite in my sea of craziness…

Spidey, I’d watch that. I’d also watch Synchronized Fencing - a beautifully choreographed battle to something rousing from Wagner or Mendlesohn

You need to write to the IOC, because I can’t imagine the WHOLE DAMN WORLD doesn’t want to watch that.

Sounds like we need a thread on “Olympic Events We’d Like To See”…

And on that note, I need to get back to work. Dammit.

Howdy Y’all! Home from the liberry. I et a sammich and had sump’n to drink so all is good. I’m thinkin’ maybe a little quality cee-mint pond time is in store.

We’ve (meanin’ a couple of folks and me) are workin’ on perfectin’ synchronized pool noodlin’ and underwater Hula dancin’. I see those as two major Olympic water sports. Both, btw, are harder to accomplish than they sound.

The very first MMP I ever participated in included a long discussion of the rules of noodling. I forgot that until just this moment.

Dozed off on the sofa last night, and didn’t lay out clothes and pack lunchbox for the Biggest Little Girl at a reasonable hour. Thank goodness for the emergency stash of Lunchables and applesauce! It might not have been the best possible lunch, but it hit the major food groups and the girls made it to the bus stop with clean clothes, brushed teeth, and nourishment.

Got the car inspection this morning. Hauled trash and Goodwill donations to the tip station. Got The Boy all packed up except for his coffee doodads, 2 changes of clothes, and his daily shower supplies. The weather app says it’s already 91° 'Murkin, but we are going out to retrieve stuff from the farm this afternoon anyway, because tomorrow won’t be any better.

Gotta stop at my brother’s while we’re in the neighborhood. He has a bunch of spare linens for DeNephew, since he and his fiance combined households. And I’m loaning him some $$ to consolidate some bills and put a new roof on the house - works for both of us, since I can offer him a decent interest rate, and still earn more than other reasonable-risk investments. And I know he’ll pay up on schedule, because the late payment penalty is that I’m allowed to go drink his beer if he’s delinquent.

And I have zero notions about tonight’s dinner menu. It might be Cheerios!

Must. Not. Scratch. At. Nose. No. Matter. How. Itchy. It. Is.

At least I don’t have a cat that likes to bat at shiny dangly things.

A friend posted something on FB about if the Olympics were held in Tennessee, what kind of sports you would see. We figured that horseshoes and corn hole would replace shot put and discus and that the swimming events would include skinny dipping and swinging from a tire swing.

Diving from a tire swing.

In Arkansas, diving into the Bauxite pit.

Bauxite just sounds itchy.

I guess when one’s not allowed to mess with their itchy nose, everything sounds itchy.

In from the cee-mint pond and all showered. Now to chillax until OYKW gets here and I start dindin which won’t take long. My version of cheesesteaks and oven fries.

gotti’s got an itch that he just can’t scratch!

Pits left over and flooded after mining bauxite, from which aluminum is extracted. This picture is from Canada. Arkansas bauxite pits are not as cold as those in Canada.

Here is an Arkansas bauxite pit. Note the inner tube float: safety first!
Note the shark fin approaching the inner tube. You need not out swim the shark, just out swim the slowest guy in the water.

Ah, that makes much more sense. I originally had a vision of jumping into piles of ore.

Home and about to build a meatloaf for supper. **FCD **is snoozing, which is good. I could use a snooze…
