If that bunker is also a nuclear shelter that is actually quite worrying…
Too bad Ukraine doesn’t have a Navy…
Ukrainian advance temporarily halted.
Sounds more like Putin deciding he’d rather not be in Moscow where too many things may be happening and where even inside palace people will be moving around jockeying for position and competing for his attention, and wants to be somewhere where he’s personally safe and he can focus.
Would sure be pleasantly surprised if he were about to be Kruscheved.
There might be some truth to the rumours of the russians negotiating surrender in Kherson.
Finally, a map that puts Ukraine’s recent territorial gains into context:
I think your spellchecker meant ‘amuse.’
Well, they are allowed to use POWs for labor.
Section III
Labour of prisoners of war
Article 49
The Detaining Power may utilize the labour of prisoners of war who are physically fit, taking into account their age, sex, rank and physical aptitude, and with a view particularly to maintaining them in a good state of physical and mental health.
Non-commissioned officers who are prisoners of war shall only be required to do supervisory work. Those not so required may ask for other suitable work which shall, so far as possible, be found for them.
If officers or persons of equivalent status ask for suitable work, it shall be found for them, so far as possible, but they may in no circumstances be compelled to work.
I mean, with as heavy as the fighting has been there, and the paucity of Russian re-supply with the bridges cut, their forces there have simply got to be at a logistical breaking point. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Russian forces there do a complete collapse in the coming days/weeks, and even running away in a panic is complicated by that pesky Dnipro, which is a much more significant waterway than those up to the northeast.
There were a series of images posted above of Russian armored vehicles that were left behind in the retreat. What I noticed (apart from the general slovenliness of the areas) was that some of the armor, including what looked like a self-propelled long-range cannon, was obviously in residential areas, in one case even parked in a yard.
Which, in my opinion, gives lie to the Russian claims of “trying to reduce civilian deaths.” As if any additional evidence of that was needed. If you’re intentionally parking your offensive weapons in a yard (and likely firing them from that location as well), you’re using civilian locations as a shield.
Sounds like a plan to me.
Charities need to donate the large prefab metal buildings. Like a small warehouse would use.
They can be errected on a concrete slab.
A building could have rows of bunk beds and house people.
Nothing fancy but better than sleeping outside.
30x50 ft, interior walls could be insulated and built.

But not the city of Kharkiv yet?
fyi - she is the former spokesperson of Zelenskyy - so not just your random nutcase on twitter
All these stories make me feel like something significant is happening in Russia right now.
Individually, maybe none of these weird stories would particularly raise eyebrows, but collectively…seem to suggest there’s a disturbance in the Force. I can buy that.
Here’s an article from Forbes from two weeks ago, so already dated. It says that the 3rd Army Corps is largely composed of middle-aged reservists without much modern training. Does have more modern equipment, though.
Unfortunately I think the wish is the father of the thought
mulling over this …
- Russian command has suspended sending new units to Ukraine -
General Staff
Putin trying to spin this as " The Donbas-russians asked for our help -we did that and we will stop doing that now… and now they are to fight THEIR fight alone. This was never russians war …"?
Of course throwing all his brothers under the bus and “de facto” having to accept pre-2014 borders if Ukr is done with the counterattack … (and crossing fingers they will stop at the border)
I could be wrong, tho …
The Guardian is reporting that it is an announcement on the Ukraine defence Facebook page:
Sez it’s because Russian troops are refusing to go to Ukraine.
I wonder if Russian military command has told Putin “No.”
Sort of a soft coup. They’re not rising up to depose him (yet), but they’re simply not going to follow stupid orders about invading another country anymore.
