Lots of fruit and veggies are really helpful,** tarra**. I lost about 30 pounds a few years back by writing down everything that I was eating and calculating the number of calories I was taking in. I found that eating lots of both fruits and vegetables really helped me stay full and stay within a reasonable calorie range. After a while, you get to a point where it becomes really difficult to have a meal without either a fruit or vegetable because you miss the freshness.
Up early. Still kinda sleepy, but I already emptied the dishwasher and am about to have breakfast and pack my lunch…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Soon I shall tackle mowin’ da yahd before it gets waaaaaay hawt. It’s already hawt, so I’m aimin’ for before waaaaaay hawt!
GT just reminded me,** herbs**, to mention that I use The Daily Plate to track what I’m eating. It’s been very helpful to me and if you have a smartphone, there is even a mobile app available so you can calculate what you’re eating while you’re out.
So my dad has decided he doesn’t want to drive anymore. Not because he can’t drive, but because he can’t really walk very far anymore, and he can’t wrestle his walker in and out of his car.
So he’s giving his car to my son for his birthday! ReboSon has been driving a 1990 Toyota Camry with 140, 000 miles on it, and associated upkeep has been VERY expensive of late. Dad’s car is a 2001 Buick Century with only 42, 000 miles on it. And an added bonus - the AC works very well! Nice to have in Houston in late summer.
I asked him several times if this is what he wants to do, but once he makes up his mind, that’s it. He’s very stubborn.
Rebo that’s jake of your dad to want Reboson to have his car. I think that it’s better for him to come to the decision not to drive rather than for it to become a decision you have to make. Good on your dad for making the decision on his own!
Da yahd is all spiffed and lookin’ good if’n I do say so myself. I’s all cleanded and showered. So, I’m all spiffed and lookin’ good too!
Herbs, yes definitely lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and chicken and turkey are good too. Also lean pork. All that helped me immensely. Another thing that helped was to not eat beyond a certain time in the evening. This pretty much forces you to prepare your meal when you walk in the door, but after awhile you get used to it. Also, as others have noted, writing down what you eat may help you.
I’ll be honest, it didn’t do much for me. However, the meals that I was preparing listed all the nutritional content, so I already knew what I was taking in (also, I wasn’t cheating in any way, shape or form).
Anyway, I should attack the manure pile again. Lots of work to do.
Up. Already completed a phone interview with a candidate this morning from an internal referral and it was a disaster as they often are when it is someones relative/neighbour etc - it was very early and I haven’t had my coffee yet. Must get some coffee.
Yeah, I believe the current owner was mate for the previous Captain (Philbrick). The Bowditch had/has its charm. I had never sailed before so I didn’t know what to expect. I had an overall better time on the Victory Chimes due to the previously mentioned showers. Also, the rooms were bigger, and there were more “heads” available. Both boats visited pretty much the same places.
Yeah, I think it might be - this computer is probably close to 8 years old - a dell dimension 4600 running at 2.6Gig. I just didn’t want to spend the money right now. Plus this one is all configured the way I like it - I hate to have to go thru all that silliness again. I wonder if I could even find a vid card for this machine that will run the monitor at my preferred resolution. It seems silly to have a 24" monitor at 1280X768…
**gotti **- if I had any idea what you were talking about, I’d try it. Bottom line - I’m a user, not much more.
Congrats, CatGirl!! Let the whine-about-the-job begin!
**FCD **and I are thinking about whether to go out for supper or forage in the fridge. There’s still time to decide. And there’s always grilled cheese.
swampy, it’s not a matter of contriving a reason to go out - it’s whether my sweetie wants to go out. His shoulder has been bothering him, so he may not feel like getting into the car again.
BwanaBob - my husband and I had a long talk about what we’d do if the Bowditch was ours. Primarily it involved getting rid of about a third of the cabins, making the rest bigger, and converting one into a shower. Not that it matters - we’re not interested in running a floating B&B. You have to put up with annoying tourists…
