Up, have had my bi-weekly donuts, and off to work. I get off work a half hour early today, so we’re taking our daughter to the local used book store. She’s looking for Star Wars books. I hope they have some there: if not, she can get one from the local chain book store. She’s as happy as a pig in slop.
My primary problem was an electrical malformation in the heart; agree that caught early it still isn’t good but it don’t have to be bad. As for the smokes - the Ladyship had this big pair of scissors and didn’t worry too much how close she came to my nose - which meant a week out of the hospital was the last one I had for the most part. Whatever it takes is “alls fair”.
OYKW is off work today so I made real breakfast. Bacon, scrambled aigs, grits and bizkits. The bacon woke him up. Anywho, we’s full as ticks and he went back to bed for a bit the big ol’ lazy bear!

We had dinner at Dead Lobster last night. This can only mean one thing…
DH is employed!
It only took about a year and a half and moving cross-country, but DH has found full-time employment. He just has to burn off a little contractually-obligated time as a temp (it was a temp to perm position) and next Wednesday, he will seamlessly transition from a temp working for a placement agency to a full employee.
He’s with one of those odd places that’s been in business for over 100 years that you’ve never heard of, despite being nationwide - they provide things like uniforms, mechanic’s shop towels, restaurant linens, floor mats and clean-room supplies and ongoing laundry and maintenance.
Remember the door warehouse and delivery system from Monsters Inc? Replace doors with tablecloths, shirts and pants on hangers, and that’s about what the place looks like.

Dammit! Now I want some bacon! The funny thing is, I’m actually in a position to go get some, but I don’t want to walk clear down to the dining facility. Yep, I’m lazy.
My division chief just left after shooting the shit with us for a few minutes. He asked if we missed our supervisor who has been gone for three weeks. I studiously kept my mouth SHUT, and he noticed. When he questioned me, I simply said some things are better left unsaid.
Frankly, it’s been a fucking relief to not have her here. She’s a micromanager. I don’t need someone to tell me what to do and when to do it. The fact that I’m buried and keep getting more piled on top due to grossly unfair workload management by her doesn’t help matters.
The final straw was when she denied me comp time so I could get things done. However, if her or one of my other co-workers want it, it’s there. Pissed me right the hell off. Look, I don’t *want *to work late or on weekends, but sometimes shit needs to be done.
Ah well. At least it’s Friday and we already have plans to get together with our friends on Saturday night. I’m looking forward to it.

My weekend starts as soon as I shut down my computer. I think I’ll just opt for the Big-Round-Off-Button and skip that whole shut-down procedure stuff.
I have been experiencing what can only be known as ‘Technical Difficulties’ all morning. Between my internet being unstable and my Exhange server goign up and down and then the application I am trying to use behind the company firewall needs to be shut down again for maintenance I am about ready to fling my laptop out of the window! Grrr
But it is Friday - Yay! I am one conference call closer to being done for the weekend

I must share this. At work, we support the military combattant commands - like Central Command (CENTCOM) and Pacific Command (PACOM). The specific branch I’m assigned to kinda does whatever doesn’t fit into a tidy command. Our boss is Al, so we call ourselves ALCOM.
On the door to our area, there’s a photo of Al with a sign that says “Welcome to ALCOM” - I had to add a subscript: “Prepare to be AL-similated” I crack me up!

And speaking of temporary jobs, I’ve been working with a couple of temp agencies since catering has been slow and I’ve got a super weird job coming up next week. I suppose I should probably wait until it’s over, though, to fill you in on the details.
