Sally Field- That's what she's going to be remembered for???

I was listening to the local radio station this AM and they started talking about osteoporosis, which led to Boniva, which led to Sally Field. This led to one of the idiots saying “Who is she, anyway?”, and the other responding “You know, she was the mean mother in Mrs. Doubtfire.”

I am seriously old :(.

Damn-can somebody fix the title? I didn’t know I couldn’t italicize.

No, she’ll only be remembered for shouting “You like me! You really like me!” at the Oscars.

I would have said “The Flying Nun” which is before my time. Or maybe “Norma Rae” which is barely my time. I definitely would not have said “Mrs Doubtfire”

If she’s not remembered for Steel Magnolias there is no justice in the universe.

Oh yeah, and she does that TV show with the scarecrow chick that’s getting boned by Indiana Jones.

Surely Norma Rae or Sybil.

Let’s face it, she’s got plenty to be remembered for … Mrs. Doubtfire is certainly a surprising (and hilariously dumb) choice.

RIP Sally Field!

For God’s sake, she’s not dead! Yipe!

She’s not dead yet! She’s feeling better! I think she went out for a walk.
What you will remember her for depends on how old you are. I remember back to the Gidget days. Yikes!

I choose to remember her as Frog, in Smokey and the Bandit.

Plenty will remember her as Forrest Gump’s mother, I’m sure.

For me - she’s always the nun with the weird habit.

Me.

Sister Bertrille, from the Fying Nun.

Soapdish!

Her best role was in Stay Hungry. The most underrated movie of all time, IMO.

The Flying Nun* is always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Sally Field.

Or The Flying Zero, as my father calls her. He didn’t like that show.

Her entire career deleted itself in my brain after about the 9,000th time I heard her say “Boniva.”

That name is so damn irritating. It’s a pill for your bones, and it’s called bone-eeva. It’s like a spike to the brain every time I hear it. It’d be like a pill for your heart called Hearticin. Stupid.

Anyway, I’m sort of a young’n, so I mostly know her from Mrs. Doubtfire.

Forest Gump was the first thing that sprung to my head.

The first thing I thought of was The Flying Nun, which I saw in daytime syndication when I played hooky from 4th grade. That makes it pretty old and obscure. The next thing I thought of was Smokey and the Bandit, then Forrest Gump. I think that when she does die (as we all do), Gidget DVDs will appear on Wal Mart and Shopko shelves.
