I’m not seeing it. He’s saying Robertson should die for saying another human being should be murdered; Robertson says another human being should die because it’d make oil cheaper and cost less than a war. Call 'em even if yo want, but I don’t see the superiority.
Hey now, be fair. He also mentioned a ‘wrecked’ economy and the spectre of a communist, Islamist South America. Oh, and that popular coup that had its back so mercilessly broken peacefully, by the people who staged it in the first place, after they realized that their guy intended to make Venezuela less democratic than it was under Chavez.
So he’s got that going for him.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
(I finally got a chance to use that!)
Dude, What the Fuck?
It’s just a thread title – it’s not an all-encompasing statement of my philosophy. It’s a play on the golden rule, OK?
Jesus Christ, get a grip!
You’re kinda going off the rail here, SA. It’s Pat Robertson we’re talking about here. Wishing that he die can’t really be considered wishing death on a fellow human being, can it?
As Robertson has made clear he didn’t mean anything about murdering anyone anyways. Therefore, “same to you” doesn’t either.
QED. Case Closed. Sic Semper Tyrannus. Veni vidi vici. Badaboom badabing. Whoever smelt it dealt it.

You sure about that?
“You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war.”
– Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, August 22, 2005
Let me be the first to say to rjung…whooooosh…
Apart from that, his statement was clearly factual. It is cheaper to assassinate someone than start a war.
If only Dubya had done so…
Ah well, “progress” and all that.
-Joe
But if he had assisinated Sadam, he would not have been able to prance around in a flight suit on a carrier off the coast of california in front of a big banner saying mission accomplished right before the mission got started.
I just want to say I came here from a very conservative Christian message board (ie Mr. Robertson’s demographic) and the reaction there seems to be pretty uniformaly one of disgust. Even by people who were willing to justify his original statement. I mean…someone compared him to Clinton!!
Perhaps this will be his long overdue ondoing. Just my cheerful thought for the day.
I’ll believe that demographic has left him when his show is off the air and Robertson himself is penniless because people have stopped shoveling money at him.
Let me know when that happens.
-Joe
Sorry, but when you replied as follows, I thought you were indeed giving a clear statement as to your philosophy. As you may recall, you said:

That is what’s the fuck, Dude. You say in so many words that you don’t hold human life in high regard, and then you say you feel it’s unfortunate that Chavez (who for all you know may one day play a key role in facilitating a huge terror attack on the U.S. through collusion with Muslim extremists) doesn’t call for the assassination of Robertson. This makes you sound like a much more uncaring and heartless creature than Robertson ever thought of being.
Perhaps you overstated your position. Many of us here have done so, myself included. If so, perhaps it would be a good idea to clarify your position now. If not and your position is truly as you say it is above, then my original assessment of you still stands.
Considering Rumsfeld’s address:
Donald H. Rumsfeld
Secretary of Defense
1000 Defense Pentagon
**Washington, DC ** 20301-1000
I would say you are the brainless piece of beaver shit.
Stationery aside, the Pentagon is in Arlington, Virginia.
Are you retarded or just…oh fuck, you’re just retarded.
I fear Ronald McDonald and Willie Nelson (fuckin Socialist Lefty) are also threats. Either one of them “may one day play a key role in facilitating a huge terror attack on the U.S. through collusion with Muslim extremists.”
Then again, some day one of them Muslims may kidnap me, put a chip in my head, and remote control me into playing “a key role in facilitating a huge terror attack on the U.S. through collusion with Muslim extremists.”
It might happen to you! Maybe Dick Cheney has one of them Muslim Remote Control Chips of Death in his pacemaker! Maybe he’ll be next!
It could be ANYONE! Holy fuck! We’re all gonna die! Trust nobody! Kill your mother before THEY CAN GET TO HER! YOU HAVE TO GET EVERYONE BEFORE THEY GET TO YOU! YOU NEVER KNOW WHO COULD BE A CLOSET MUSLIM EXTREMIST!
OH MY GOD! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!
Idiot.
-Joe
Ask anyone who’s been there, pardner. It’s in Virginia. That DC address is just the mail de-anthraxification facility.
Speaking of which, I’m also worried about a communist, Islamist Vatican City.
Ahem…However difficult it may be to argue with such a persuasive diatribe, if you will recall, such concerns about Chavez were in large part the basis for Robertson’s comments, thus relevant to the discussion at hand.
Schmuck!
And the information that made Robertson’s concerns legit was… ?
