The Tar-Jay run is complete and I now have a new radio/cd player /cassette player. I don’t know if I even have any cassettes these days. Nelson got a good run with the big dogs at the dog park and there are carrots cooking for carrot ginger soup to go with a grilled cheese sandwich for supper. Chlllage awaits.
**Butters **- I sent you a PM about the scammer. I don’t recall if you were one of “her” friends or not.
We had Bad Chinese for supper, then filled the car. Now we’re home doing nothing. I’ve got a feeling SIL quit his job - I just asked when he’s working next, and he just shrugged. Guess who isn’t surprised if he did quit…
And on that note, I shall assume the crochet position.
Howdy Y’all! We did not leave da cave today. No motivation even to go just down the road. Any need to feed has been done via nosh as desired. We did achieve nappage however. Tomorrow we shall deheathenate. There will be only one service so Whiskypalians and Luteruns will come together at ten forty-five in the a. of m. We have a guest Priest (local retired Priest who I like a whole lot) as EYP is in Arizona (somewhere around Phoenix) with his wife and kids visitin’ her family. They did his family over thanksgivin’. We’ll probably go wild and grab a burger afterwards.
Sloth has been our favorite deadly sin these past three days.
So your vacuum sucked but now it sucks?
That. Does. Not. Compute. I wuz out more than I wuz home today; & this is the day I’ll be home more of the two wickend days.
Conga rats, Bakersphew.
Worekd, went to the bar to watch the Canes lose. Made chipolte chicken for dinner. Haven’t made up mind mind what to do for NYE yet.
red, I have cassettes. Mostly Jimmy Buffett.
FCM, dream roadtrip sounded fun.
I managed to wrangle 8 teens (and assorted parents) for a trip into SF. It was a good day, but I must remember to avoid tourists areas during school breaks. So. Many. People.
**doggio **, I replaced Jimmy Buffett , Billy Joel and others with CDS years ago and now have my faves on my mp3 player.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s my Firday.
well, you’ll get my Dorsey Brothers LPs when you pry them from my cold dead (USB)turntable!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 71 and a chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. The big plan of the day is to deheathenate followed by N.O.L. probably at a burger place. I got a text last night askin’ me if I would be second non-cannibal kind of Lector this mornin’ as the person who texted me is sick, bless her heart. I agreed. I have no idea what the lesson is however. I suppose I could look it up in the Revised Common Lectionary. Or I could wait until I get to the church house and see what said lesson is. My guess is St. Paul ramblin’ on and on and on as he is wont to do.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Happy practically afternoon all!
I have nothing (except essay stuff, which I still have 2 weeks to finish) that needs doing today, so I had a proper student holiday lie-in.
Naw, it’s the downside of them not breathing down our necks at all- we get a list of houses to clean, then if one pair hasn’t finished by the time everyone else has, everyone piles in to get it done, because the new guests are often due in a matter of hours. The boss barely ever checks who did what in what time, which means someone s…l…o…w can get away with it for a very long time.
The time it takes varies dramatically, depending on if the guests were the sort who vacuum on the way out or those who consider the holiday to be a holiday from cleaning, but on the rare occasions there’s any questions about time taken, the boss just takes our word for how bad it was. Added to that, this co-irker only does skool holidays when she’s staying with parents, being a more traditionally aged student, so she’s only there when it’s busy.
She’s better than the people who, before I started, regularly just went into a house, wiped a few of the most obvious things then put on a DVD for the next hour. It apparently took a year before they got let go.
Can you imagine if he had a FB page or a blog???
<making room in handbasket as necessary>
Very broken night. It started early when I dozed off, then woke from a disturbing (but immediately forgotten) dream. I was able to fall back to sleep after midnight, but I woke at least 2 other times, possibly 3. **FCD **spoke to me at one point - he couldn’t sleep, either. But he’s out now, and I hope he gets a few more hours undisturbed.
No real plans for me today. I did decide I’m not going in tomorrow. If I need to make up hours, I’ll do it Firday. At least I remembered to submit my end-of-month/year timesheet. That’s a weird thing about work - our work week runs from noon Firday to noon Firday, but we also have to close out our hours on the last day of the month. I’m sure it’s all about accounting, but it’s confusing enough that every month, we get an email from payroll reminding us to do it. Which, it turns out, is a good thing. Anyway, I’m good. Now it’s just a matter of when they’ll assign the new charge codes for the new year. But I can deal with that later.
Now, to see what today will bring. Happy Sunday!
Blurfage. Awake but not up. I have a bunch of laundry to do today and need to make a grocery store run. Got to get my peas and collards and maybe a small ham.
I ordered the cat some more weight management cat food. We have her on a diet. The vet says she is likely to become diabetic if she continues to get fat. She weighs almost 15 pounds. The dog only weighs 10.
I am not looking forward to all the fireworks that are likely to be launched in the next few days. Both animals are afeared of them but the cat more than the dog.
We have always made a point NOT to go anywhere on the 31st since it’s the anniversary and this year will be no exception. It’s a madhouse down here now. Just moving about takes three times as long as it should due to all the traffic. Our sheriff’s department often parks empty cars along the highway as a deterrent from speeding. There is one parked on my island but there is a mannequin in it. Of course all the locals know but it’s probably funny to the tourists. I bet it works too.
Well that’s all the news that’s fit to print. Everyone please be safe if you are out partying. Do not drink and drive.
Happy Sunday!
It’s a cloudy 34 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 45.
We have a whole mess of rain coming starting tomorrow.
I slept in this morning. I’m kind of stiff and sore from staying in the bed too long.
I took a long hot shower, so long I ran out of hot water.
Lots of weird dreams though, so not a very restful night.
Ripple scared me last night, he was laying in a weird position and felt cold to the touch. I finally woke him and he was very very groggy. Then he got back at me for waking him up by needing to go out and then wanting to play.
Sari, I don’t know much about dogs, but I’d be mildly alarmed about Riple; sounds like possibly some type of seizure? Keep an eye to see if it recurs.
Butters, hope you and the animals survive the next couple of days (never understood fireworks for New Year’s day).
FCM, I grok you, woke up about 4am, then slept on and off until 7:30, don’t know why, I was more than tired enough…
Nut, bosses who don’t really care (at least as long as the work is done and nobody is bothering them) are the bane of hard-working folks like thee and me (well, before retirement).
Swampy, have fun [del]Hectoring[/del] Lectoring the congregation…
Red, doggio, I think I got rid of my last cassettes years ago, still have a lot of CD’s hanging around but I hardly play them anymore.
Cupcakes, great story on the nephew; may he find future success.
Sunny, Kudos for surviving both teenagers and Frisco; above and beyond service.
Spidey, I had the perfect response to your vacuum suckage joke, but replying to everybody else just blew me away, so i forgot.
WHEW!!
As for me, rain is due today and continues tonight and tomorrow. Not hungry as I went to the Golden Corral last night and overdid as is my wont there. About 2-3 hours of indoor soccer this afternoon and maybe do the January grocery stockage later this morning, since everybody else in N. Ali-bama will either be in church or sleeping off the effects of the Tackleball win last night.
Tomorrow is the 2018 budget entry, where I put all my monthly expense/assets in proper order so I can see where my money went this year. Mostly it’s moving numbers from ledger to Excel, but it keeps me out fo trouble for an afternoon.
All y’all have a good Sunday now.
I just stream them.
butters, I would have pegged Lucky Louie for smaller than 10 pounds.
Up, caffeinating, breakfast in and fixing to do KP. I took Nelson for an extended walk this morning because it is nice outside. I need to head back to Tar-Jay to return the radio I bought yesterday. It has no dial indicator and won’t pick up 2 of the 3 NPR stations that I listen to. I’ll get my money back and go somewhere else for one. After that, i’ll go up to SIL’s for a visit.
Showered, clad in adult-like clothing, and I cleaned the kitchen - well, much of it. The dishwasher is doing its thang and I need to run a damp mop over the floor. But not much on the agenda today.
Guess it’s time to start another afghan.
They’re just really nice and a bit too trusting. It can be great- say you’re not feeling well you can just find someone else to take over the rest of your list and sign out early, no worries, and if one day your -paid- break goes on a little longer than normal, well it’s on your conscience to make up the time.
I’ve had too many bosses who jump on people for tiny mistakes or just doing things differently to not appreciate being trusted to get on with it, they just need a better mechanism to detect the Michael extractors.
Anyway, I just had to do an emergency shop trip, having realised I was out of coffee  One cannot student even at the questionable level of effectiveness I’m managing without it. There was a sale on, so I have at least a 2 month supply now.
Then just…bag it.
Mooommm someone has created the solution to your pet hair problem; doggy morph suits.
(There are not enough  for that)
Decided against doing the race today so I will have some time at home; going to do Peepsfest tomorrer instead. (Nothing like waiting until the last day of the month/year to get it in. :o)
FB already sucked, and today it sucks worse.
It actually ‘covered’ a video, that I shared to my own timeline, because I might be offended by the violent or graphic content.
WTF? if I was offended by it why would I share it to my own timeline? It’s not violent, it’s a video of people slipping and falling, and one where a person gets butted into the river by a sheep. Not only that, I am a grown ass woman who knows how to turn something off if it offends me, I don’t need FB to ‘protect’ my widdle feelings. I don’t need the thought police to determine what I can and can’t see.
Worse than walmart not selling a CD I wanted to buy because one of the songs had the word ‘bitch’ in the title.
MetalMouse I don’t think it was a seizure, but I am going to call the vet tomorrow. I had a doberman who was the same way, so it may just be a very deep sleep cycle. The difference though, my doberman was always cold. He would sleep up against me every night, and usually under the covers. It would be 100 degrees outside and he’d be stretched out in the sunniest part of the yard soaking up the rays. There were times I thought he had died in his sleep, he was so cold to the touch.
I think I’ll send off an email to the breeder too. It’s probably nothing.
Much knitting has occurred while TV-watching. I boiled down a chicken carcass and just finished picking the meat from the gunk. I’m thinking chickie salad for supper.
Meanwhile, back to knittage.
