Santo Rugger (RIP Santo Rugger)

You are awesome for giving us updates. It’s easy to see why Pat is such a great person.

Well hiya RuggerDad – welcome to the show. We’ll happily provide all the prayers and encouragement you can handle, you just tell those docs to make sure Pat is back hunting scum real soon. Thanks much to everyone on your end providing the updates!

Hang in there Rugger.

SantoMom and SantoDad, please know that my thoughts are with you both, and with Santo, as well!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your (obviously) busy days to keep us posted on what’s going on with Pat!

I know (some) people think this is “just a message board”, but it’s really so much more than that. It’s a community, and we try to look out for our own, one of whom is your son!

Thanks for taking time to keep us updated it really is great to hear he’s pulling through.

Thanks for keeping us updated. We do appreciate it. I guess it’s our hope that along with all that medicine has to offer, our good wishes will help him too.

My thoughts are with you all.

My thoughts are with you to. My dad suffered severe head trauma, and was in a coma for five weeks.

Great news! All these positive updates really make me smile

Keep it up, Santo Rugger - we’re all pulling for you!

So, when Santo’s finally back at the keyboard, he’s got to start an “Ask The Doper Who Was In A Coma” thread, right?

And now, a little Viva De Lo Santo! for your waking and moving pleasure!

It should be an easy enough thread to do. Every question someone asks can be answered with “Ummmm, I don’t remember. . .”

runner pat was also in a coma. Which is kind of … eerie. Both were in a bike accident, both were in a coma, both named Pat… hmm.

I know, bicycle != motorcycle.

Prayers and well wishes are paying off. Santo was moved from ICU to a step-down unit Friday. He is definitely more alert. He responded to the nurse’s command to raise his hand several times.

I took the Italian coffee in for him to smell. I said this is from Butterscotch, your friend from the Straight Dope. His eyes flew wide open! I told him that all his doper friends send positive vibes and are anxious for him to get back on the boards.

Thanks again for your marvelous support. His wall is covered in cards from well-wishers all over the world!

That’s wonderful news, SantoRuggersMom.

Let him know I’m going to be in town in July, and am looking forward to seeing him again, please.

Love it, love it, love it! Keep on keepin’ on, Rugger!

Excellent.

SantoRuggersMom, so you wanted him to wake up and smell the coffee?

Wonderful news.

That must be some good coffee.

I’m glad to hear he’s almost out of it. I wonder if the coma will last just long enough that he won’t have to deal with the pain from the rest of the injuries.
