Santo has a brand new drug to keep him awake and alert during the day. It seems to be working! He’s also sleeping better at night. Such a relief. We are able to do more with him during the day. The gall bladder surgery really set him back, but I think he’s doing much better. Baby steps, baby steps! We heard about a mountain adventure camp that he may be able to attend next summer - that’s definitely something to think about. We’ll have to schedule a new swallow study - he was just too sleepy in Denver.
SRM - The camp sounds fantastic, if it’s do-able. Not only for Pat, but I’m sure you need a break from caregiving every now and again. I would imagine having a regular sleep schedule will do lots of good things for Pat.
Please continue to keep us updated. We care about Pat and about you.
normal noninterrupted sleep is so important when recovering from tramatic injuries. hopefully this will help him gain some “toddler steps” to add to the “baby steps”.
I was just thinking about Pat yesterday. Glad to hear he’s still making progress and coming closer to beige his old self. Thank you for keeping us updated.
Just checking in to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. We have mch to be thankful for - it’s been one year since we brought Pat home. Progress is still painfully slow but we continue to have hope and look for subtle changes. We remind ourselves that recovery takes many years.
Good news from the Rugger household is one more thing for me to be thankful for! Progress may be slow some times, but I find it helpful to look back now and again and see how far my kids and I have come since our bad old days. I never imagined I’d see as much progress as I have. I hope you are able to say the same thing, soonest.
Thank you for checking in and letting us know how it’s going! Although slow, I’m glad to hear there is still progress and hope that things continue on a good path. Happy Thanksgiving!
