Sarah Palin's Glasses

I’m guessing that’s a woman who doesn’t have a whole lot of first hand experience with books.

The Upper Midwest accent (which somehow made its way to Alaska?) is a huge turn-on for me. I know, that’s weird, but it’s true. She’s above-average in the looks department (although I agree that you see better-looking women in Southern California on your walk down the block to 7-Eleven) and she obviously takes care of herself and makes an effort to look good on any given day. I find her politics and personality reprehensible, but compared to the rest of the politicians out there, she’s gorgeous.

And yes, it’s completely irrelevant, but that doesn’t mean that anyone who talks about it should be tarred and feathered. People talk about how hot (say) Brad Pitt is all the time, and that doesn’t take anything away from a serious discussion on his acting ability. Why should politics be any different?

BTW: I wear glasses and contacts (not at the same time), I’ve worn glasses since the third grade, and I can’t imagine owning two pairs of prescription glasses. Of course, Cyndi McCain could afford to do it for Palin, but I don’t think anybody except the fat cats who don’t pay taxes actually matches their glasses with their outfits. That would be like wearing mink fur to a dental appointment.

I just want to thank you for posting this link. I am definitely going to do some shopping after my eye exam next week!

I don’t know anyone who does this. You use the same pair til they break, you lose 'em or your prescription changes. The only time I wear my old pair is when I mislay my newer pair.

I’ve known several middle-aged women who wear reading glasses…they are dirt cheap, even fashionable pairs. So, yes, it’s easy to match them with the outfit.

Prescription glasses are a completely different animal, and that may be where the dissonance is. Perhaps someone talking about matching their glasses to their outfit is merely referring to reading pairs only.

She was 2nd in Miss Alaska for crying out loud.

people who wear simple reading glasses can get multiples and change them up. they are sold everywhere.

when you have non-simple lenses… well, the only person i can think of who switches out glasses is elton john.

many places are doing a 2 for one or buy one get half off. most people who wear glasses full time will get a sunglass pair and a clear lens pair. that’s what i did this year one pair is wire and has a sunglass clip and one is plastic framed with clear lens. i ended up paying about 600 dollars for the 2, guess where my tax thing went.

I think she’s cute and has a great smile. Add to that outgoing and confident without being forced (in contrast to my impression of Hillary). I wouldn’t call that exactly sexy, but it’s very attractive.

And, yes, it at least should be irrelevant. But Obama didn’t get European crowds in the thousands or female reporters ogling him just for his specific positions. Political, that is.

Word. Last time I got new glasses, the lenses alone cost £360, which is $637 in today’s money. Even then, my frame choice is severely restricted because most frames result in the lenses being far too thick at the edges.

Plus which, it takes quite a bit of fiddling and tweaking to get a new pair of frames fitting really well - usually a couple of weeks worth of wear. Doing that half a dozen times would be a royal PITA.

My local news station here in Minneapolis has kindly reminded me where I have seen her glasses before. It must be a Republican thing.
