Saturday, Sunday, Punday - a New MMP

I can’t share a room. With anyone. I’m really bad at sleeping. Also, I snore and drool and grind my teeth. heh :stuck_out_tongue:

Still trying to clean and get unpacked at the new/old place.

metal mouse, I’m good for anything on the SE side, Nolansville, Franklin or the 'Boro. If you like BBQ, Martin’s serves up a righteous plate.

Beyond KP, laundry and sweeping the patio, I didn’t get a whole lot accomplished today. Got a Texas cheeseburger (a special that will not be repeated) and some onion rings from Sonic for supper and a junior burger patty-only for Nelson. Now to kick back and do more of nothing.

Loved that movie. Hated Susan Sarandon’s accent.

Are the Mudcats still playing out in Zebulon? Those were always fun games to go to, and much cheaper than the Bulls.

I’ll answer to anything. I was a middle child (but enough about me).

Drove the ‘B’ down the beach. We were going to have dinner and drinks at The Beach At Birch Bay, ’ The World’s Only 5 Star Dive Bar’. It was too crowded, so we had a half-dozen oysters on the half-shell, calamari, and a margarita apiece.

We’re having margaritas at home, and I just made myself a cheeseburger on a zero-net cab bun.

Got Asian BBQ chicken in the oven. Had a martini for The Preakness, now I’m sipping a Yuengling.

You’re a beagle? But glad you’re at then new place. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yep. Oddly enough, I’ve never gone to see them.

No, no, I didn’t mean to imply using “wizard” was wrong! I’d feel bad if you felt pressured to stop using the nickname you’ve had for him for so long now. I don’t think there’s a rule that says a Mumper can only hae one nickname, is there? Also, sorry a coach had to get kicked out for unsportsmanlike behavior. Not a good example for the kidlets.

FCM, I’m shocked they didn’t at least comp the soda. It’s not like it’s an expensive item. The nice thing to do would have been to comp the meal.

doggio, I had to look up “Yuengling.” I thought it was a cocktail. [hangs head in shame]

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization (I have ush duty). We shall also have a McN.O.L. Beyond that, I foresee much sloth. did a buncha yahd irk yestiddy so the sloth is earned.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

It was 48° when I let Higgs out - waaaaaaay below normal for this time of year. Stoopit weather. And by the end of the week, we’re promised highs near 90 - waaaaaaaay above normal. Stoopit stoopit stoopit…

I did send an email to Cracker Barrel about the incident. We’ll see what happens. As long as the coke doesn’t stain the shirt I was wearing (it was a new polo, mostly white) I’ll be OK. It’s not like I’ll never go there again, nor did I threaten that. Moving on…

I’ll check the painting I did yesterday to make sure I didn’t miss any spots. Then I’ll have a look at what remains from the paint that was used upstairs and decide how I’ll finish downstairs. There’s a fairly obvious divide down the center of the basement, so if I have to do two different colors, there will be a clean line between the sections. I really should paint the ceiling, but it’s too much of a chore, what with all the fluorescent fixtures installed - it was a workshop after all. And it’s not a bedroom, so no one is going to be lying down staring at the ceiling!

Anyway, that’s today’s plan. The worst of it will be trimming the west half of the basement because of the conduit along one section of soffit. Not to mention the up-and-down to trim along the ceiling. I’ll get a good workout today for sure. Then I’ll need to move the furniture back so Roxy can play down there again. Right now, everything is glommed in the middle. I even folded the treadmill so I could roll it out of the way.

For the moment, tho, surf’s up! On the to Sunday funnies!

Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, so of course it’s 49 degrees and cloudy.

You didn’t threaten to flounce out dramatically?

There’s also Yuengling ice cream.

I got demoted at work, fortunately without a pay cut (so far). I will do the same work but I will no longer be manager. That title goes to someone in corporate (I’m in a regional setting). I was emotional for 3 days alternating between pissed and hurt pride. Now I realize it’s a gift. I’m retiring May 6, 2022 and won’t have to deal with manager BS for my final year.

Wet one, less management bureaucracy and the same money? call that a win-win all day. Understand about the hurt pride, but unless they try to cut your pay, I think you came out on top of this deal. And with only a year to go…

FCM, 63F here at 8am heading for 80F, and the week looks like it’ll be in the 80’s, which is pretty normal May weather here in N. Ali-bama. And almost no basements in this are (all slab or crawlspace), so no basements to paint… And I think you did the exact right thing on Cracker Barrel; I like you am surprised they didn’t comp your meal.

nellie, no one pressures me into doing something; but I am amenable to change. And yeah, that’s the first time I’ve seen a coach at this age (10U) get tossed. Just couldn’t stop (loudly) disagreeing with the referee. I’ve at least learned in my years to turn around and mutter things when I don’t like the call…

OK, need to go rescue the Sunday paper from the outdoors and figure to mow about 10am, before it gets too hot. All y’all have a great Sunday.

Me: < opens door to take Gordie out >
Alex Catt: < bolts out >
Me: “Get back in here.”
Alex Catt : < bolts back in >
So not only does the cat hate baths less than the dog, she obeys better too.

Sorry baout the hurt feelings. But if you keep the pay and have less BS for your last year, it’s a win.

I’M BLIND! I’M DEAF! I WANNA BE A REF!

Good morning. It’s 46 degrees outside with an expected high of 77 for today.

I worked my tail off yesterday. I went to Lowes and picked up some mulch/bark, garden dirt, weed cloth, a hose sprayer, three plants, edging, and something else I can’t quite remember.

I came home, changed into grubbies, and started clearing out the tiered area next to my driveway. The original plan was to just clear out the top tier, plant the plants I bought, trim with the edging, and throw some mulch on it. Somehow, I managed to turn that into a major project. I pulled out the old weed cloth, and, in addition, I decided the bush on the second tier needed pruning and the tier needed cleaning out. However, once I started pruning, I realized I HATED this bush and have ALWAYS hated it. So, I pruned a three-foot by four-foot bunch down to nubs and dug the stump and roots out of the ground. That took a while, but I did it. I finished clearing out that tier, pulled up the old weed cloth, and dumped a bunch of mulch/bark on that of that tier. I will have to get some more plants and put them in the ground there. It wasn’t part of my original plan to clear that out, but now it’s bare except for mulch.

I still have to work on the ground level tier, next to the sidewalk, but the Rhodie is in full bloom and just looks gorgeous and healthy and I don’t want to prune that right now. The bush is huge, though and it needs good pruning. Once I do that, I’ll clean out that tier and put some mulch in there. I also trimmed some of the branches on the maple tree (the developer put it there) in that area. When it was all said and done, I had pretty much filled up my just emptied bin. I also weeded the area next to my front walkway. My husband picked up all the stuff that I had pruned or pulled out the ground and put it in the bin. He also mowed the lawn.

After I took a hydration break, I went out back and weeded the flower bed that I had already put plants in. They were just teeny tiny weeds, but I wanted them out. After that, I mulched that bed. I then followed that up by planting the remaining flowers I had for the backyard into the bed below the kitchen window (amending the soil first), and mulching that one. I just need to dump another bag of mulch in that area and the area where I pulled up sod and put edging in.

After that, I’ll have a couple of bags of mulch left, so I need to figure out where I’ll use them. I’ll probably just lay some weed cloth down in the big, never-ending garden, and cover it with that mulch. It’ll one tiny area I don’t have to keep weeding. Unfortunately, my bin is full, and I can’t do any serious weeding. I wish I could get it dumped, but it is too big too put in my Jeep. I miss having a truck.

Last year, because the bin kept filling up, I created a giant pile of weeds and pruned tree branches (from the neighbor’s trees) and I only just finally got the last of that pile out. I really don’t want to create the same mess, but I am tired of looking at the weeds. I just want to get that whole area mulched so I can concentrate on another yard project. I have pavers to lay and I also want to put down good topsoil and lay some sod in the area where the giant dog kennel used to sit.

AT any rate, I don’t think I’ll too much in the yard today, other than what I mentioned above. I also need to do laundry, so I’m less inclined to get grubby while trying to do laundry too.

I’m sorry you were demoted, peedin, but if you’re getting paid the same and no longer have to babysit people and deal with management BS, it does sound like a win. I get the hurt feelings though. I probably would have wrestled with that too.

Time for some more coffee. Gonna need it today.

Afternoon, mumpers! I missed posting yesterday 'cos I was busy doing stuff. But it was good stuff  I was up early so go the mogs fed and medicated, changed all the litter trays, and then went to the gym for an outdoor bootcamp class. I had intended to also do the outdoor spin class but it started raining so they called it off. I did an hour-long fat-burner programme on the treadmill instead (incline intervals, nothing dramatic). After that, I called in at the pet shop to get some more cat litter (two 30L bags) along with some urinary care food for Shadow, a bottle of odour neutraliser, and a comb for Whisper as he’s got a couple of knots in his fur.

Got home to unload the car and my friend arrived with a large quantity of food for Whisper from the cat rescue lady so I stashed all of that in the porch and had a natter to my friend outside. After she’d gone, I hauled stuff around the house to where it needed to be. Went into town to do some essential errands and picked up lunch from the good Chinese place and took it back home to eat. Since I was apparently still feeling quite energetic, I vacuumed the floors and then did a pile of ironing. I’d also bought a new fitted sheet for one set of bedding as the current one is definitely showing its age, so that went in the wash and is now drying in the bathroom.

Saturday night was deemed cocktail and film night, so that’s exactly what we did. I got up late today, with no plans to do anything much at all. So far, I’ve done all the cat stuff again, made lunch, wrapped birthday gifts for 'im indoors and am now running a bath. I am making chilli for dinner later, and apart from that, I plan to do nothing else unless it involves impersonating a sloth.

The package said ‘Twin Pack’. It wasn’t. So half an hour ago I put almost eight pounds of deadpig into the oven. And then I took it out, because I want to make biscuits & gravy for breakfast. I’ll put it back in in about 10 minutes. I’m going to cook it at 235ºF instead of 225ºF so that we can have dinner at a reasonable time. 07:24 now, so we can eat around four or five of the clock.

SWMBO decided last night that I’m going to trim trees today.

Of course not! She’s nice, damnit!

It sounds like you may get the best of both worlds with the demotion wet one. A blow to the ego maybe, but a reduction of stress.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a warm dog on my lap. In a few minutes, I’ll deheathenate virtually and then it’s the usual Sunday chores. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

So they’re species-fluid.

If you do the same work, it’s not a demotion; it’s just corporate job title BS, and you get to (privately) call yourself whatever you want. I like CEO of All That’s Good And Holy or maybe God of Hellfire.

BooFae, hope the Day of Sloth is pure bliss.

Mowage completed. Working now at sweating, and doing a damn good job of it, if I do say so myself. Grabbing a little snack (cheese bread from the freezer) so I can eat dinner mid-afternoon and avoid the Sunday mob.

Have a good day now.

The painting took longer than I’d expected - like the entirety of My Fair Lady plus and episode of Cheers! And I noticed a few spots on the bottom of the wall that need to be touched up. But at the moment, I’m finishing up the leftover ravioli and taking a break. The touch up won’t take very long, then I’ll quit for the day. First thing in the morning, I’ll put the finished half of the basement back together so Roxy has a place to play. Not sure when I’ll paint the other half. The ceiling really needs to be painted, but I really really don’t want to do it. But I may have to. Dammit.

Not this weekend, tho. Three anna half hours, plus a little more, is quite enough for me today.
