I slept in till nearly 7 this morning!!! Guess I was tired. **FCD **is still abed - he’s been having a terrible time sleeping lately, unless he’s on the couch in front of the TV. But the critters have been tended to and I’ve breakfasted.
Apparently Taz decided, during the night, that the afghan I was working on and all its associated tools and yarn on the side table needed to be moved to the floor. Idiot cat! Fortunately, it doesn’t reek of pee, so he was just being a brat, not an evil brat. I’ll finish the afghan today, then inventory the remaining yarn and decide what to make next. I have enough to make 2 more afghans, but the colors and types aren’t particularly compatible. I may break down and buy some, then use what I have to make some shawls and lap robes.
**FCD **mowed yesterday, except for the push mowing. I’ll try to get that done today. I hate doing it, but I refuse to let him do it. I also need to make a grocery run, and I desperately need a haircut. My usual place changed hands - guess I’ll see what its replacement is like. I don’t have a favorite stylist or anything - I just want cheap and quick - like my men… I mean… never mind. Anyway, we’ll see if I can get my hair cut for a reasonable price. I don’t pay $50 for someone to take an inch off all around.
**Sticky **- hope it’s nothing serious! Foot and knee owies are no fun.
My FIL went out into Hurricane Irma because he heard something, then he felt something pop - he trashed his achilles!! Today he goes to the cardiologist to find out if he would survive surgery. Otherwise they’ll put on a cast and hope for the best. He’s 87, and for a smart man, he does some dumb stuff.
Enough rambling - I’ve got comics to read! Happy Firday!!
When I went downstairs to give BFDC his medicinal tuna* I noticed the floor of the master bedroom looked strange. A further look revealed a large plant pot broken on the floor. A plant pot that used to be on top of a tall bookshelf. I wonder who did this?
BFDC is a Big Fat Cat, plus he has arthritis. Innocent.
Fluffy Samantha is clumsy and wouldn’t dare jump that high. Innocent.
Tabitha is a very agile 2-year-old kitten/cat. Guilty.
After breakfast, but before I do Drug Test II: This Time It’s for the Hospital, I will be vacuuming up potting soil and finding somewhere to put the now homeless plant. Tabitha is going in the penalty box for Bad Cats.
*Seasonal mixed his arthritis medicine into a can of tuna.
Lucky. How often do you get the opportunity to literally pull up a lawn chair to watch the excitement?
WetOne: thanks for reminding me I need to get a flu shot. I’m not sure if it’ll be covered by the temp agency. I think they have to wait to get the background check and drug test results back before they’ll send me that paperirk.
Bumba: there is no limit to the assholishness of wasps.
Nuts: Irish Storyteller has to take a study skills class for his HR degree. His book for that course has that “talking to toddlers” tone, plus it advertises itself constantly. I told him all he needed to do was watch “How to Study” and he’d be set. He agreed.
Moom, do Taz and Tabitha know each other?
Okay, I think I’m caught up now. Time to finish coffee and then start vacuuming.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I could mow but I don’t want to so I probably will not mow. The biggie plan for the day is to go see Miss Becky at the nursin’ home this afternoon. I have some Hershey’s Kisses [sup]TM[/sup] to take to her so I shall be on the good list.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. I also need to find motivation. I don’t want to do anything but I must get movin’ eventually.
It’s too darn hot for September. The high today is predicted to be 92, just like yesterday. Same forecast through Toesday. I am not amused. However, my garbage did get picked up. I’m off Monday for furnace inspection, shingles shot, and the dentist. Go me!
The ditches have been mowed. I’m showered and dressed. I think I’ll head to Leonardtown for a haircut and some groceries. First I’ll ask **FCD **if he wants me to bring some lunch home. Because I’m nice, dammit.
Thanks for the appendage crossing- it apparently worked.
The car needed a grand total of one replacement bulb (the licence plate one, I always forget that one) for the princely sum of £1.80. I was prepared for it to be pretty much the same numbers without the dot.
I even did some advanced level adulting, and walked to the doctor to register as a new patient while my car was being tested. I think I’ve earned an evening in jammies, and probably chocolate as well. I’d say ice cream, but it’s got cold.
It’s never too cold for ice cream as long as you’re indoors. That’s what blankets are for! But yay for the minor car problem! The older they get, the scarier inspections become.
We went to get a burger for lunch, then I drove the Sonata thru the car wash, and we ran to Food Lion for some milk and cereal. I came home to a small flood in the kitchen.
The critters’ fountain/bowl sits on a towel to catch pug drips. One of them, probably the aforementioned pug, flipped the end of the towel into the bowl and capillary action did the rest. The towel was sopping and water was pooling on the tile. It’s fountain-cleaning weekend anyway, so I wiped up the water, then cleaned the fountain, put down a dry towel, and it’s all clean, full, and fountaining.
My afternoon plans involve afghaning and Netflixing. Because I can!
Only accomplishment of the morning was solving the two hardest Sudoku’s of the week in the paper the first time through without getting stumped. Guess all the brain cells are still working.
Soup and sammich are in digestion mode and no rain in the forecast (We do get a Presidential visit this afternoon). E-mails sent and obigatory snarky comment added to a Facebook post.
Now need to sign up for soccer refereeing and prepare for the 10U boys soccer practice.
I had a nice visit with Miss Becky. She was in good spirits after her little trip to the ER yestiddy. JDD Sis is takin’ care of her gettin’ new upper teeth which may happen as soon as next week. The impression and mold were done on Tuesday. Hope she gets 'em soon. In other news 'tis hawt out. Glad to be in the a/c.
Metal Mouse, make sure you have plenty of Kreeptoniteon hand.
Drug Test 2: Electric Boogaloo is done. Drug tests are easier now that I’m in seeing distance of 40. I can always fill that cup. When I got home I did a lot of miscellaneous yard chores: cleaned the leaves off both porches, repotted the aloe that’s been living in the garden, and refilled both catnip socks. Maybe if the Bewitched cats are high they won’t try to break stuff.
I’ve watched 3 more episodes of House of Cards while afghaning. The big brown one is done, and I’m working on a shades-of-brown lap robe. FCD is still futzing in his shop, and it’s still mostly overcast.
Majik intartoobz pizza for dindin. It was OK. I have not had much of an appetite today. Nothin’ really appeals to me. I’m sure I’ll be over it tomorrow and want to eat everything.
We only have 6 rolls of TP left. I am sorry to have let you down Swampy. I’m a little worried about how we’ll make it through tonight, but as of tomorrow, as Og is my witness, I’ll never get this low on TP again! (I mean it.)
Irked, grocery shopped, came home, then went through the drive thru at the BBQ joint at the end of the street for 1/2 slab, slaw, beans and cornbread. Twas nom, but I’s stuffed.
Practice over with and dinner consumed. Signed up to referee 3-mini round-Robin games (add up to 1.5 regular games) besides my coaching duties, so if the world is coming to and end tomorrow, IT better do so after 5pm, cause nobody interrupts my refereeing.
