Did he put his finger inside her when she was a young teen? Probably. Guys do that all the time. Also, the 70s-80s was a differernt world. I can’t see why she would falsely accuse him of it unless she has some kind of mental disorder.
Why didn’t she speak up at the time? Maybe she did and got shusshed down. Maybe she thought they were in love. Maybe she just thought it was what grown-ups did.
Will he be convicted? No, it’s pretty difficult to get a conviction in cases like these even when it just happened, it seems.
Will the accusation affect his career or personal life? Let’s see.
This will all play out very differently if one of them breaks under pressure and recants their story.

In this case specifically or you can’t see why, in general a woman would falsely accuse a man of sexual assault unless she has a mental disorder?
In this case specifically. They were friends in adulthood. No fallingout apart from this accusation has been disclosed (although, I guess they might have had some fallingout over business that has gone unreported).

I was watching TV at the gym today and Dr Oz was on (I know, but I didn’t pick the channel). He was interviewing her (her follow up visit apparently) and I gotta say she didn’t come off as all that believable. Dr Oz played clips of her saying on a national radio show that they did not have sex until after Charles in Charge was over. She also said on that same show that she cajoled him into having sex with her because she wanted to have experience for her current boyfriend, claiming she still a virgin at that time.
When presented with a dated shooting script of CiC which proved she would have been 18 at the time she claimed they had sex she handwaved it away saying, “oh, I was lying then”. When asked about luring him into sex, she said the same thing, “oh, I was lying then”.
I don’t know or care what the real story is but my impression of her is she is not the victim she claims.

The man was an incredible horndog during the 80’s and 90’s. One of his main claims to fame (and women) was that he allegedly has a huge penis. That may have been why she wanted to sleep with him. We don’t know.
If there were stories floating around that he was assaulting women, they’d be pulled out of archives or more women would be coming forward to tell about it.
The man may be scum, but so far there’s no real evidence that he was ever a sexual predator.
