I thought they said UTI, which I took to mean urinary tract infection. So while babies may pee, they don’t breathe inside the uterus, so how could that affect her lungs?
Qadgop? DoctorJ? Anyone?

I can’t imagine this is the last we’ll see of Kim & the baby. I think JD is going to find out that she’s lying somehow - either he’ll run into her later, or someone he knows will. I don’t think they’d show the audience that she lied, then never come back to it.
Reminds me of when Jack was born, and JD & the audience knew Dr. Cox really was the father, but it took awhile for Cox to find out himself.
I just rewatched a couple scenes, and it was urinary tract obstruction, not infection. The next scene dealing with it just had the doc saying, “this is our best chance to restore normal function and minimize the damage to the lungs.” Maybe the fluid buildup inside the fetus would cause some edema?
And I can’t believe no one has commented on Turk’s cell phone ring…I was hoping everyone would be in here all,
“I recognize the song, but what is it?”
And then I’d be all like,
“It’s the theme song from Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers, duh!”
Kim is the bitch? No, JD is, as usual, a weasel. He flunked the test. Kim knew what she was doing when she tested him, too, because he’s an immature jerk but she had to find out for sure. JD is more annoying than Donald Trump because he has a position of extreme responsibility but he’s just a clingy baby. Butt ugly, too.
I really can’t stand him.
Sorry, I don’t agree. She lied to him. Long distance relationships are hard to maintain, they’d just barely started going out, and she wasn’t going to move back. I think he was willing to go the distance for the baby, because he did care about Kim, but there was no longer a pressing need for the sacrifice, as far as he thought.
It wasn’t like they’d been dating for years. She got pregnant on their second date, when they hardly knew each other.
To me, this is like when you start out on a trip and realize as you leave the driveway that you forgot something. It’s easy to go back and get it. But when you’re halfway to your destination, you say “Screw it” and figure out a way to work around it. JD and Kim had just gotten out of the driveway.
Feh! He should reassure her that the relationship was continuing then slowly ease out of it by gradually (like over a week or two) cutting back on the phone calls until there were none. That’s how a REAL man would do it!
I still can’t stand him.
I thought they were going in a different direction.
I thought I’d heard that Zach Braff wanted to leave the show, so I thought they’d have him move to Seattle to be with Kim and the baby, although perhaps not leaving until season-end. It may still happen that way, though.
I agree. Here’s the Snopes link for anyone who’s interested. Real photo, but inaccurately described by most websites.
I’m not a doctor yet, but I am a med student.
Fetuses in the womb “breathe in” amniotic fluid to help the lungs expand and develop even though they’re not getting any oxygen from it. So, if a fetus has a problem producing urine and can’t produce enough amniotic fluid, they end up with under-developed lungs.
As for the show itself, the way I took the last scene was that Kim had decided she’d rather be a single mom than be stuck with a guy who wasn’t really interested in being with her and just staying for the baby. I’m sure eventually JD will find out and they’ll end up together (of course, a few seasons ago, I thought for sure they were going to end up having JD and Elliot end up back together in the end, so maybe I’ll be surprised).
So far Thursday night was a let down for me. A decidedly weak show.
My thought was the same as Dewey Finn’s though, and I’m expecting it to happen that way.
And Elizabeth Banks is hot. She turned 33 today. Only 12 years difference… too much?
Grrr…now that I’m on my laptop and not my phone… (see my GQ thread )…
I figured that Kim got the abortion and lied to J.D. - until she got the ultrasound. Once she’d done that, I figured she was putting J.D. to the test.
Assuming the writers care that much, look at the previous seasons. Carla was all concerned about Turk being a gigantic jackass child, but the strength of their relationship got her past that. J.D. and Kim didn’t have that kind of foundation to their relationship.
Still, if Braff (my least favorite actor and character) leaves I hope they’ll try to continue. I think as long as they manage to keep the background characters as well as Cox, Kelso, and either Carla/Turk or Elliot/Janitor the show can keep up the level of quality.

I always had the feeling KIM was the one trying to get out of the relationship. IIRC when she found out she was pregnent, she told JD he didn’t have to have anything to do with the baby if he didn’t want to. Only kinda liking her (since he really didn’t know her, don’t forget, they didn’t actually have sex) he thought he would take the high road and stay with her and help raise the baby. Then she took that job in Seattle and again, she told him that she would be okay if they wanted to go there seperate ways, no hard feelings, and again JD said that he wanted to stick it out. Now this. Personally, I don’t think Kim was putting JD to the test, I think she was trying to get rid of him. With every life change Kim went through, she gave JD the option of going his own way, no strings attached.
No one else noticed that one of the doctors was the oldold/new Phillip from “Days of our Lives”?
Now that’s a real soap opera. Which “Scrubs” shouldn’t try to be, even as a parody.
I’m not getting a sense of parody at all…are you?
-Joe, prefers parody to soap
Sorry, can’t remember. Must have amnesia from falling out of an RV.
