Scrubs season 8 premiere thread

I like how they’re foreshadowing the series finale…both JD and Cox are admitting they’re getting tired, and I liked the end of the first show, where they riffed on how it’s their eighth year but they can still do it, despite the Nielsens, who are just upset they didn’t get a private room, etc.

I thought we were going to learn the Janitor’s name, but apparently, it is The Janitor. And if Courtney Cox isn’t going to be around for the whole season, I’m sure there’s some way he’ll get back to work.

I liked how he made one master key, and that Kelso is still around, getting his free muffins. I also liked how Eliot really and truly apologized to Keith for hurting him. Maybe he can hook up with Jo the New Intern? He does seem to be a bit of a masochist.

:: whistling innocently::

Not that I know anything about such things, but I’d say he’s more of a submissive. That is, he doesn’t especially care for pain, but he does like someone else being in charge, sexually speaking, and if that involves a little discomfort, he doesn’t care. (I’d guess he has a high pain threshold, though.)

I didn’t mean technically he’s a masochist, just in the general sense that he doesn’t mind the high maintenance ladies.

That’s reasonable. But I do mean that he’s a submissive type, and I think a large part of the reason Eliot got off on her relationship with him was that, even after they stopped being sex-buddies, she enjoyed being the person with more power. For her that was rarely the case.

I heard in an interview that they’re rotating the cast around so everyone will be in two less episodes, even J.D. It looks like a lot of people were gone in the second episode, so they’ve started that already. I imagine the Janitor will be back when Courtney Cox leaves.

In the article, it says that will happen in the last episode. JD asks him and the janitor answers.

And it better be an Asian name.

I tried to watch but had didn’t know Courteney Cox would be on. Once I saw her, hate of a depth I didn’t know I had for her made my view hazy and didn’t allow me to continue watching the show. I guess I am still in PTSD from her Monica portrayal.

Why Asian?

During some episode a while back, they showed a brief clip of the janitor talking to someone an he said: (paraphrasing)
Janitor: And that’s how I got my name.
Random person: Well, you certainly don’t look Asian.

Josh. His name is Josh.

There’s some speculation that his name will be Neil Flynn since they showed scenes from “The Fugitive”.

So now they have a Dr Cox and a Doctor played by Courtney Cox.

It makes this thread a little bit hard to follow.

There’s only a little bit of truth with that.

I still hope it’s Jan Itor. That would be so cool.

That’s Doctor Jan Itor.

Does anybody know when it switched from nobody bothered to know his name to where he didn’t even have a name?

“It’s ironic that cancer starts with the word “can”, cuz at this point there’s nothing we CAN do about it.”

I laughed SO hard at this line I woke up my roommate who was sleeping in the next room.

Well, it’s Courtney Cox Arquette, if that helps any.

ABC repeated the shows again instead of showing Pushing Daisies, the rat bastards.

I also really want them to reference the Janitor being in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The dream is alive!

Hopefully that’s what he was off doing during the last episode.

I never really cared for ‘Scrubs’ after it’s first season. I would watch it every now and then, and almost every time, imo, it felt like the ‘whimsy’ comic aspect of the show didn’t really mesh with the often borderline mellow-dramatic part of the show. I never liked how Dr. Cox is supposed to be some badass, but at the end of every episode it’s like; “oh, he’s not such a dick after all”. Every episode would feel like a “very special episode” of an otherwise situation comedy show.

I know most of the “silly parts” of the show has, (or had) a lot to do with how J.D. perceived things, in order to cope, at least that’s how I remembered it back when I would watch it. But the “silly” seems to have branched out more. For those who know the show, is that accurate?

I just tuned in to see if and how the show had changed since the move, I didn’t know it was even on. I only caught the second episode, and it was pretty good. I would encourage more like it.
