We had someone else ask me via PM to sign up, and I gave him the link, but he never took it or replied. Not sure if he lost interesting or what. We still have 2 people not responding so if you’re still reading this you can still have the slot. Motu will be first up as a replacement before that. And one of the people may show up before then.
That was me who PM’ed you. I can’t get in with the link, I think you’d have to send me an email invite. It’s showing a message that says
Ah, right. Okay, I deleted some recent PMs but IIRC, I sent you the link to sign up for the league. You didn’t use it in like 4-5 days, and I wasn’t sure if you had had lost interest, so I sent the link to Pixel_Dent, who had also asked for the spot. We’ve only had 1 confirmed cancellation this year, so that’s who got it, and why the link doesn’t currently work.
But now we’re within a week of the draft and the remaining players from last year haven’t claimed their spots, which probably means they’re not going to take them. So I’m going to cancel the pending invites to tds1273 and MTRG to give them to Motu and Covfefe. In the event that tds1273 or MTRG come back soon, I’ll set them up as alternates or find them a place in another league or something.
Alright I’m in and will definitely be at the draft provided I am alive and well. My team name is The Straight Dope…My Foot. 
Do we still need people? My work league disbanded so I might have one or two people with interest.
Current we’re full up. Someone may have to cancel during the week but obviously I’d strongly prefer we avoid any sort of last minute reshuffling. I’m counting on everyone currently signed up to attend the draft.

Looks like I may have checked in here too late. I’ll keep an eye out if anything changes between today and tomorrow, but I suppose I’ll be out this year. If you ever revisit these threads, please keep me in mind for next year. Bummed to be missing the draft; I’ve always enjoyed this league.

Sure, you can get in next year if we need replacements. But I couldn’t wait any longer and risk leaving an empty spot in the league.
If anyone has some sort of emergency that means you can’t make the draft, we do have 2 people now willing to be replacements, but you’ll have to speak up soon. I think yahoo locks the draft in a few hours before the actual draft. Otherwise I expect 100% attendance.
Did you make a final decision on the draft budget?
No one seemed to have a very strong opinion and most opinions were against, so I’ll just leave it as we have.
Do you have the situation with the owner of Garcon’s Cedilla who emailed the league 3 days ago squared away? I’m guessing you’re on top of it and it’s resolved, just asking to be sure because they seem to be in the midst of a vacation and there hasn’t been any public followup.
Yeah, he’s going to have a friend draft on his behalf while he’s travelling, then play the league himself the rest of the year.
Alright, we draft tonight in 11 hours.
In the past I’ve made some sort of voice chat program available for people who wanted to talk during the draft and we’ve had maybe 5-8 people show up, but a lot of people don’t want to bother with installing software. So this year I’ve got an easy solution. Discord lets you use chat through a web interface without actually installing anything. You can simply follow this link. I think it will put you in the right channel, but if it doesn’t, simply go to the general channel under voice chat. Both text and voice chat are available so you can participate even if you don’t have a microphone or don’t want to talk. It makes the draft more interesting.
I’m going to remind everyone that we need to keep the nomination times down. I have to crack the whip every year. Our draft in this league is already crazy long. Often when it’s someone’s turn to nominate, the following happens. “Oh, wait, what’s that beep? Oh, that’s me. I think I have to nominate. Okay, let’s see here. Uh… who should I… hmm… dunno… uh… I guess this guy” and we’ve wasted 30 seconds.
30 seconds for 300 picks is 2 and a half hours. We could add 2 and a half hours to our draft with slow nominations, worst case scenario.
So.

The nomination is in a set order, so you can see when you’re going to be nominated. Be prepared.

Until we get down to the point where a $1 nom might actually win you the player, way late in the draft, it really doesn’t matter who you nominate. Someone is going to bid on them anyway. If you don’t want them, don’t bid. If you get caught unaware just nominate whoever the top guy on the board is.

Don’t be the guy who gets caught off guard every time. This is super easy and everyone will appreciate a long draft rather than a forever draft.
Similarly, there’s no need to try to snipe the bid. If you bid, it re-opens that bid for 10 seconds and someone else will get a shot to bid again anyway.
Now if it’s a tough decision and you only decide to bid at the last second that’s absolutely fine, but don’t get in the habit of waiting for the bid clock to go down to 1 before you bid as some sort of strategy.
Alright, that said, let’s have fun. These drafts are always kind of crazy and unique, enjoy it.
I sent out redundant PM and e-mail reminders. I know that’s annoying to some of you that are on the ball, but on the off chance it reminds someone who forgot, especially since we’re drafting earlier than we usually do, it’s worth it. 100% attendance is critical for this league.
One more suggestion. The draft opens up a half hour before the actual draft time starts - come early in case you have any problems with the yahoo drafting app, that will give you time to resolve them before the draft starts.
