So you got one guy who says it’s not closing. Others disagree (like the NAEP). So what? You’re ready to close the book- with no genetic evidence, mind you- after a few decades. Yes, the achievement gap exists. But you can’t even conclusively say that it isn’t shrinking- it just isn’t by some measures.
Why is there no correlation among African Americans whatsoever between “black” ancestry and low test scores/crime? That fact alone makes it pretty hard to accept any genetic explanation (especially since there’s no genetic evidence).

This is the opposite of my 8th grade civics class where the teacher put me on the team of proving racial inequality in a debate identical to this. My two team members weren’t too bright but my three opponents were even less so. So with nothing other than anecdotal examples we shredded the other team. We won the debate but only a moron would think that we proved anything.
This argument is opposite that one since the opposing side is actually refuting the anecdotal examples as NDD continues to drag out more all the while claiming that he’s “winning”.

How high was the increase? If anything, this demonstrates the environmental effect on crime and illegitimacy is more important than the genetic one.
Also, what do you guys think of this paper in demonstrating the genetic basis of racial differences? Chuck11 linked it in the other thread, but I didn’t touch it.
Unimpressive. We know that African-Americans owe most of their African genetic legacy to a single sub-population and that populations have genetic features that can be differentiated.
That’s never been the point of the debate.
The debate is whether or not (1) ALL African populations can be grouped together as being a single genetic race and (2) how this correlates genetically with intelligence.
To use an example to illustrate: Both lions and cheetahs exist in Africa while there are tigers in Asia. We can differentiate tigers from the other two. Does that mean we can group lions and cheetahs as a meaningful “African cat race” because we can distinguish them genetically from the “Asian cat race”?
Likewise, there are multiple differentiable human populations in Africa. Grouping them together because they happen to be from Africa and all have darker skin than the average European, though often differently colored compared to each other, isn’t meaningful in a genetic sense.
And if we can’t really group them in a meaningful genetic sense in the first place, how can we claim to be able to lump them together for purposes of measuring intelligence?

Why praytell are you trying to say blacks are less intelligent than whites because they don’t behave as well? Is there some correlation to behavior and intelligence? The only thing I’ve noticed is that more intelligent children seem to be more adventurous in exploring their surroundings.
