SDMB Book Swap, New, Revised, and Improved!

ADMINISTRIVIA

  1. Yes, I started sending some matches out late last night. But the bulk of them haven’t been sent yet. Look for yours today.

  2. I heartily endorse contacting your swapee first. Remember, they’ve got you, too, so a few emails may help you guys fine-tune your selections and send something each person will truly be interested in. If you want the selection to be a surprise, fine, but I think that’s not so important, especially if you want to make sure you don’t send something they’ve already read–or already decided they loathe!

  3. Let’s make the target deadline April 30th. Earlier is better; I am sure everyone is eager to get their book.

Phew, for a moment LifeOnWry had me worried I had been forgotten…left behind…hamsters ate my application

By the way, Cranky, thanks for organizing this – we’re all just so darned excited that we have forgotten to tell you what a wunderdoper you are for doing it!

I’ve got my partner - watch out Harli, bizzare stuff could be headed your way in 10 days or so.

Big smooches for Cranky!

And double smooches + big hug from me too.

This is going to be so much fun!

Yes, thank you, Cranky for organizing this. It must have been a lot of work getting everyone matched up.

I’ve got my person! Tanookie, get ready!
Can we send more than one book?

I’m planning to send Harli two books - one that we agreed on beforehand and a super secret surprise book. I don’t think the punishment for more than one book will be too severe.

For a $5 bribe and a book of my own, I’ll look the other way.

No, honestly, I’m already negotiating with my person on how many books I can send without seeming pushy or pressuring. Heh. There’s no way I can stand to send only one, myself.

However, one is a perfectly acceptable number, for those of you who are suddenly blanching at the thought of shipping a library.

Woo Woo I got my match too. Hi bibliocat Oh and I get someone with book written all over her name! The pressure

I was just thinking yesterday “hey didn’t I send an email to be in the book swap thingie” And I too was thinking of 2 books… Just because I really really really wanna send this one book and it is kinda funky so I didn’t want my partner to be disappointed!

I can’t stretch to $5, but if you’re interested in the cuisine of the Ukraine…

[sub] Actually, that book is not up for grabs, I think I have a copy of the 1958 Peter Dominic wine catalogue somewhere though.[/sub]

Woo! I got my person!

Thank you so much Cranky. You Rock!

Oh, and Baker, watch your inbox…

You see that post up there? The one with a mere 18 words? I just previewed and found over 10 mistakes! I probably missed a few too. Me fail english? Thats unpossible! Ugh… in a book thread no less. I need more sleep.

Tapioca Dextrin, why am I scared? Well, excited and scared
Gaddammit, I’m just gonna have to make sure to find you a total kickass book. Oooooh, the pressure!

Emporer Penguin, it’s probably not sleep that’s needed. It’s sunshine and heat. Just imagine sitting at the locks watching the boats go by. Damn, I’m gonna have to get myself back to Bobcaygeon soon…

Hooray! There it is in my inbox! Lamar, I’ll think of something for you…I’ll be in contact.

Three cheers for Cranky!!!

Well - put my contribution in the post to booklover this morning … and thanks, again, to Cranky for organizing this.

Hey Daowajan, check your e-mail please.

I’ve got my selection, now I just have to mail it. Thanks Cranky!

Shirley Ujest - please check your email, too!

I GOT MY BOOKS ALREADY!

I got home from the post office from sending my package of books and there was a box on my doorstep.
Tanookie sent me 3 new books from Amazon! And now I feel bad for sending her used books.

I got:

  1. Little Altars Everywhere, by Rebecca Wells. It’s a sequel to Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, which I loved, and I haven’t read this one, so that’s great.

  2. Postmortem, by Patricia Cornwell. I’ve never read any Patricia Cornwell, so that’s a new author I can get hooked on. Yay!

  3. Vurt, by Jeff Noon. She warned me about this “one funky book” she was putting in. The blurb on the front says it’s ‘the mainstreaming of cyberpunk.’ It’s probably not something I would have picked up in the bookstore, but now I’ve been introduced to something new. I read the first couple of pages and it seems really good.

Yay for Tanookie! Thanks!!
And Yay for Cranky for organizing the Book Swap!
