Mine are in the mail to Hodge. I had to send two. (The post office has these video-sized envelopes, see, and two paperbacks fit perfectly!) One is new and the other is used. (I went out and bought a new copy of one I intended to send, but it was bigger than a paperback and I couldn’t have fit two in that envelope, so I had to send my old copy. That isn’t just grunge on the pages, it’s author-appreciation grunge!) Here’s hoping they’re something new for you. (I think either one is worth re-reading anyway.)

I figured out the perfect book for my person the other day and ordered it on Amazon. Plus a copy for myself (I originally got it out of the library). Plus a copy for a friend of mine who I periodically like to swap cool books and CDs with. So I’m thinking I’ll be mailing middle of next week some time.
Mailed mine off a couple days ago. Woo, books!
My package went out on Wednesday.

rjk, I just got your books in the mail yesterday. Good picks! I’ve never read any Lawrence Block or Cordwainer Smith but I’ve seen good things posted about them on this board. I just put mine in the mail yesterday, so hopefully you’ll get it before the weekend.

Those are two of my favourite authors. Block is well-known, but Smith is unfairly neglected.

Berlin Noir, a compilation of three novels by Philip Kerr about an ex-cop private investigator in Germany in the 1930s and after the war. It looks great!
(According to the cover, Salman Rushdie said “a brilliantly innovative thriller writer”!)

Now that they’re in the hand of transglobal postal service all I can do is keep my fingers crossed they will arrive safely…
I got mine from mlerose on Monday - I’m hoping the ones I’ve sent have gotten there as well.
Unfortunately, I can’t allow myself to begin reading them until the 9th - but then I have a month to do as I will and read/re-read…whatever I want to do.
