SDMB Book Swap, New, Revised, and Improved!

i got books!!! 2 bios.

the disastrous mrs weldon and the empress of farewells.

don’t worry punkyova, books are in the mail. i forgot to include the note.

i’m gonna start in on them this weekend.

cranky, i’m always up to sending out packages. you can send someone this way.

I procrastinated my way through this and sent mine out today. I was going to put a note in, but I forgot. :smack:

Like I said in an email to my swapper, the books are in the mail, on their way to British Columbia.

I’m halfway through my swappee’s book, “The Inn at Lake Devine” by Elinor Lipman, and enjoying the heck out of it. I was up for a good half hour after I should have been asleep last night, doing “one more chapter, one more chapter.” (Un?)fortunately, they’re really short chapters.

Thanks again for organizing this, [b[cranky**!

I’ve gotten my books (spiderman !!!) and my swapee should get his by May 15th.

Are we gonna have a “book review” thread to follow-up?

I think we should. I always have a to-read list going, and SD people give such informative reviews. I say we do it!

Gosh darn it, I guess I’ll just have to finish my book tonight, then!

Only because you guys made me, I finished my book last night. I put the review thread over in Cafe Society – voila!

Thanx twicks. Now to read the second one !!!

Mine turned up today. Thanks Harli

I got mine yesterday, Tapioca. I can’t wait to dig in to them!
Thanks so much.

Oh, Cranky, I hadn’t been to the MPSIMS board in a while, and much to my despair I missed this swap. I sure hope you’re having another one-this is a wonderful idea, and I hate not being a part of it!
I promise to be better next time!

I got my book, thanks Cranky! Actually, my wife got it first. Her reaction was, “why is a strange woman sending you a package, and what’s in it?”

Now, do you suppose she was jealous because it was another woman? Nope. (sigh.)

Was she worried because it was someone I knew from the internet? No.

You know what she was mad about? “You’re bringing another book into this house??!!??” “Well, I’m sending one out, too.” “Yeah, but at best, you’re breaking even!”

I don’t think she was really mad, though. I hope.

OH Crud! I missed it! And I had so much fun with the last swap…

bummer… I have been to buried in my own head to pay attention to the online world…

Well maybe next year… slinks off to pout

it isnt as if I need MORE books… I just like books… I can stop ANYTIME I want… I can!.. Really! … oh crud

Well now. I’ve got three of you who asked to play late. Jess, Krisfer, and singular. We could do a three-way swap between you. What say you?

Sorry Cranky… I couldn’t get on the board last night.

But I am cool with the idea. Send one of them my way. Or anyone who likes ancient historyor any history for that matter. (20th century is current events in my book!) Or mysteries… or well whatever!

Anyone want a nearly new paperback copy of Ender’s Game? I just cant do Orson Scot Card… snorrrrrrrrre

Ooh, late entries! Can I play too? ::hopeful look::

I got my books, and have devoured them with much joy. (With the exception of the one my dad swiped from me. sigh.) But Running with Scissors was the savior of the drive from MI to Pittsburgh with my mother, and Good Omens has become the delight of my housemates.

I have mine packaged but need to swing by the post office. I swear I’m not a welcher.

Krisfer You can’t do Card? Are you defective?

Ummm yeah probably… you wouldn’t be the first to think so.

But in my defense I did get through Sapphic Slashers andThe Whore’s Story which HAVE to two of the worst written, techno-babble dry pieces of non fiction ever written! Oh yeah and Slavery in Early Christianity “mmm I have enough material for 50 pages but I want my book to be 150 pages long… mmm I KNOW I will just repeat everything and reword it!”
Okay okay I admit I didnt finish “Slavery” But I got all her info the first three times

I haven’t gotten mine yet, and sounds like my swap partner hasn’t, either. worries
