Sorry for the delay.
I’ve been a little busy.
Did my swapee in Vancouver get the books yet?
I’m also a little concerned – a package I sent to California the same day, also book rate, got there Tuesday…
No book here … and no word if my book arrived! <worried frown>
Oh no, I’ve just busier than a cat lickin’ two skillets. I got your package! It’s wonderful!
And I also got my books from NE Texan. Woo-hoo!
My book club is meeting in a few weeks and I’ve got a whopper to read for that one (which I forgot about) so I can’t even choose which book to read first. I did, however, do some word puzzles. I screwed up the first logic puzzle I tried, because I am an IDIOT.
phew!
(Not “phew” that you’re an idiot – “phew” that the package got there. If it’s all the same to you, I think it’s probably best if we leave the issue of your idiocy off the table. )
Any of you who missed the first match-up, but who want in on this Late Book Swap Action, email me at sixpackmomma@yahoo.com. Krisfer, I already have your info so consider yourself submitted.
Kat I’m so sorry that I haven’t gotten in touch. I got the books early this week. Your books will be coming. I have one that’s ready to go, but the other one (the main one I want to send you) I loaned to a friend a while ago and she can’t find it. I have to wait for pay day to get the book and send it. I’m really sorry. Don’t loose hope, your books are coming!
Thank you, rocking chair, for taking pity on this late-player! My books arrived today – a lovely surprise and perfect timing, as I had just finished my last new book. I’ve already started the Feng Shui book – I’ve called Feng Shui nonsense for years, so I’m looking forward to actually knowing something about what I’ve been maligning. And I’m very much looking forward to the other two, also. I read Coal Miner’s Daughter years ago, and am a country music fan of long standing, so I’m sure I’ll find Still Woman Enough very interesting. And I like a nice cosy mystery, but haven’t read any of Churchill’s, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy that one as well. Thank you, thank you! And watch your mail next week, I have two of my favorites packaged to mail on Monday – I hope you enjoy them!
bump to remind people of the book review thread.
EP, did you get the books yet?
Yes I did! Thank you very much. I wasn’t going to say anything until I got your books out. They look awsome, and came at the right time, as a have some major library fines, and won’t be going back until I get paid. Luckily, I start my new job wednsday, so the wait will be just long enough to read them.
There is one book that I am still looking for, that I think you will really enjoy. It’s in a box at my parents place, and I’ll be picking it up this weekend. The post office is closed SUnday, so they will be out Monday. Sorry for making you wait so long. I’ll have to throw in something extra…
No problem. I hope you like the Piper book(s). The justice system on New Texas is one I think we should be able to use on our own politicians. And SPQR is the first of a series, so if you like it there are more with the same main character.
Boy am I glad to know I am not the ONLY one… thats what I like about this board there’s a partner for everyone of my ummmm naughtiness…
hehehehe Actually, the ladies at our library pissed me off so I havent BOTHERED to pay my $6 plus fine. I just shrug and say whenever… haven’t they ever heard of bookclubs???
No welcher, she - I got FOUR books in my package!
Phule Me Twice - Robert Asprin & Peter J. Heck. I’ve read some of the Phule series, but this one doesn’t sound familiar.
Lincoln’s Dreams Connie Willis - ooh! I really enjoyed To Say Nothing of the Dog and Promised Land and I have Doomsday Book in my To Read bin.
Four from the Witch World - Andre Norton, ed. Tho am not familiar with WW - I usually enjoy short stories written in another author’s “playground”.
And just for you Krisfer - The Worthing Saga by Orson Scott Card - I really enjoyed Ender’s Game and the couple of Alvin Maker books I’ve read.
Medea’s Child - - Good Omens has become my new “You must read this!” book I press on friends & family… glad to hear we’ve got another convert!
Krisfer, no other late players contacted me. Does someone else want to do a dual swap, and swap with Krisfer? I would, but I’ve already feeling guilty about the book from NE Texan that I’ve started (but haven’t finished) and the book from Twickster than I started but seemed to have lost at my in-laws’ house!!
I 'll swap with Krisfer – send me his/her info and I’ll contact him/her.
Ahem, Cranky – perhaps Krisfer will treat my gifts with the respect they deserve!
me female…
My husband just looks around at my piles of books and shakes his head and mumbles something about buying himself a house…
I’m kool Cranky really… I set myself the task of finishing Peter the Great by Robert K. Massie by June 6th… at about 30 -35 pages a day I should just squeak make it!
So if twickster wants to swap I’ll be all aglow for days!
Hey krisfer – don’t let your husband catch you reading the email I just sent you.
Aw, don’t feel guilty on my account. I’ve only just begun the book you sent me - it was just perfect to have around in the waiting room in the hospital yesterday. I’m about a third of the way through it.
