SDMB Diplomacy 2004. Shall we play a game?

Hmm, confused between RL and the game … I have this friend you should see, he’s a special kind of doctor. A talking doctor, he can help you out.

Yeah, I’m flying out to Vancouver to visit my gf’s family for a bit. Need to fly, or else by the time the bus gets there in a week, I’ll have to go home! And I’ll be late!

As for the reach around, I’m not sure if you can be trusted. Let’s see … attacking me in Munich. Attacking me in Ruhr. Looks like England and Italy are fighting to get behind you while you were busy with me.

The retreat is posted.

So, are you saying I’m the one getting the reach around?

I’m saying we’ll both be needing one, one big ol’ pile on here.

Hey, I’ll still run a game-if there is enough interest. Right now I only see two people who want to play. Unless they’re both schitzophrenic, I doubt that would lead to any good stabs.

I’m not sure about that. I royally screw myself over on a regular basis.

I can ask around and see if anyone else wants to play.

My 2000th post.

Well done, Wikkit.

And still no WM team. Disappointing.

I had a bit of a tiff with the guy who GMed my first round WM game last time around, plus some apparent cross-game collusion between players. Have to say it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, I find these games alot more enjoyable than that was. Especially when you conisder the glacial pace over there.

You’ve already got three of the people who have played in Doper dip games, JC, and there hasn’t exactly been a groundswell of interest. As OmniBen[sup]*[/sup] points out, it takes a different kind of person to even want to be involved. I read through the rules, and they’re… interesting.

I may sign up as a single just for experience. I don’t think a team of random people will get enough team points to qualify its members.

Most likely at this point is to get a doper group for Weirddave to GM.

Some commentary, so that this isn’t completely off topic:
Italy, looking good. Don’t wait too long.
Russia and England, you’d make good allies.
Turkey: Ouch. At least you won’t have to decide what unit to disband this winter. Try to convince Italy to break the alliance.

  • Do you still have the maps from the first 1099 somewhere, Omni?

I probably do have those maps, I can look later in the weekend if you want.

I would appreciate it, Omni.

Forgive what may be an obvious question but is Shibb playing in this game? The thread makes it sound like he’s playing England, but the website says that Lobley is.

Thread for the new game is over here.

Shibb took over from Lobley in a quite undemocratic revolt.

Undemocratic is the right word. I’ll never get these blood stains out of my socks.

Just to mention that JC has adjudged and the map is updated. Follow the same link as previously posted.

Russia: Well played, reasonable build.
Turkey: You do realize that you have to move your units out of your home centers to capture other centers, right?
Austria: What the heck? Russia is not a good ally for you, you both want the same centers. You should have attacked in the fall. Luckily, Italy is going to let you roll over them.
Italy: Prepare to be rolled over. Holding most of Austria’s home centers doesn’t help if he has all of yours.
France: It could be better, it could be worse.
England: Good improvement. I’d concentrate on getting as much of Germany before moving on to France or Russia.
Germany: Was it fun?

Late to this thread, but if you are still collecting names for another game, put me on the list. Moderately experienced at lying and stabbing, but never if you are my trusted ally. Honest!

We fell just short of having a quorum, so I went and found another (non-SDMB) game. I don’t think I can sustain two games of vanilla dip at the same time.

I linked to the thread above. If you bump it, I’ll drop out, and you remaining players can try to find another player.

Bouncy bouncy bouncy…

Apparently my “stupidest thing I’ve ever done” can often fall into the Diplomacy world.
