SDMB Diplomacy 2004. Shall we play a game?

With the EU quotas as they are, you have to take them where you can find them… That’s why England is about to liberate Belgium - he wants the restrictions on the number of cod he can catch lifted, and the only way those fat-cat bureaucrats will listen is if you come and kick down their door and conquer their territory (and Paris and Brest at the same time).

It’s all about the fish my friend - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

And the olives…

And the vodka…

I’ve left Norway totally unmolested because I really can’t stand the idea of Lutefisk. Picked herring is okay, though, hence Sweden. I’m actually not much on vodka, but I have more Bordeaux than any other wine region in my collection. Paris was a lark. Belgium has merits, not just for getting rid of beaurocrats but aslo for Chez Leon, the pommes frites and the chocolates.

Oh, and for Chimay, Leffe, Duvel, Palme, Maredsous, etc. How could I forget the heavenly ales!?! In my defence, it’s not even 8 am yet here. No bieres for at least another hour or two.

RETREATS!!!

German A kie retreats to ruh.
Italian A tri retreats to vie (ouch)

Builds/Disbands for Winter:
Austria must remove 1 unit.
England may build 1 unit. May build A or F in edi, lvp or lon.
Italt may build 1 unit. May build A or F in ven, rom or nap.
Russia may build 2 units. May build A in mos or war or A or F in sev.

Those are due tomorrow, Gents!

And it was all uphill too… Oh my aching feet!! Somebody will pay for this - mark my words.

Probably the communists… I blame them for most things…

Sorry, Italy, but I love when stuff like that happens.

I would just like to state for the record that I hate you all with the intensity of a thousand suns, you Stabby McStabsters.

Didn’t anybody tell you that it’s hella difficult to play Austria as a newbie? Actually, it’s not that simple to play it succesfully as an oldhand.
And I love what you’ve done with Venice.

Yeah sorry - my men had the wrong maps and ended up in serbia instead of Budapest. How embarassing is that!

Then to make it worse, a bunch of my lads in Rumania got chatting to some Turks they met in a bar, a bit too much alcohol was drunk and the next thing they knew, they were helping the Sultan invade Bulgaria. I’ve had some very stern words with them, i can tell you.

I’ve sent you a box of chocolates as an apology.

And I don’t think that anyone is really “dipping” right now, I’d like to propose a cessation of hostilities for Christmas time, at least until after Boxing Day.

:: English infantryman takes a football and kicks it over towards the French ::

:: German infantry peek over the edge of their trenches, get up and start heading towards the other trenches with some bottles of schnapps they managed to bring from home ::

Enjoy!

Arrives…like America…halfway through proceedings…what’s going on?How can I join in?

This games pretty much in full swing. You can check over at another thread called something like “Concurrent Diplomacy” (search this forum on those two words) and there is another game just starting. They might need one more player in that one. Also, I think there are some links the Diplomatic Pouch there that would help you to understand the game if you’re a newb with regards to Diplomacy. Also you can read through this thread a bit and check the progress from JC’s links to get an idea for how this game is going.

Or you could just kick the football around with us, sing some Christmas carols, have a cup of coffee with some brandy in it. But remember to duck when the shooting recommences.

Baldrick (To George): Do you remember Christmas 1914 sir - the truce?

Blackadder (Overhearing): Both sides advanced further during one Christmas piss-up than we’ve managed in the next two and a half years.

Baldrick: Sir, sir, do you remember the football match sir?

Blackadder: Remember it, how could I forget it? I was never offside, I could not believe that decision…

I think you holiday revelers should be careful. Try that with the Austrian, and you’re likely to be shot and have your alcohol taken.
I’m playing Austria in another game, tdn, and it’s taken a lot of work to not be dead. And it’s only winter '01 right now. Italy attacked me right off the starting line. But in the fall I had the luckiest orders mixup ever, and now I’m cautiously optomistic.
