SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 18

Hey, he might take Mendoza…

Hiya, I see my notices. Give me a couple of hours to wrap up work and look at a trade.

Yes, I’m in Love and being a homer.

Jeremiyah Love, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Everyone’s cuts are entered except RNATB. Since RNATB wasn’t involved in any trades, we don’t need his cuts to process the trades, and the trades were processed like this:

Justin’s 1st for Jules 2nd
Jules’ 1st and Justin’s 1st for Omni’s last two
Petey’s 1st for Jules’ last
Jules’ 3rd round pick for Mundi’s second

Justin’s 1.03 goes to Jules
Jules 2.09 goes to Justin

Jules 1.09 goes to Omni/Wilson, Jules 1.03 (From Justin) goes to Omni/Wilson
Omni/Wilson has 6 picks, so his last two are 5.02 and 6.02, which go to Jules

Petey’s 1.05 goes to Jules,
Jules last at this point in the processing is the 6.02 via Omni, which goes to Peteys

Jules 3.09 goes to Spiritus Mundi
Spiritus Mundi’s second round pick 2.08 goes to Jules

I think I processed these correctly and therefore we have the correct order for our draft, the only undecided thing is how many draft picks RNATB has, but please double check my work and make sure you have the picks you’re supposed to have.

@Wilson is up with the 1.02 and 1.03 picks. Take time if you need it.

In general, when you’ve made your pick, do the @ thing to notify the next player that’s up.

At 1.02 I will take Jeremiah Smith… I mean Carnell Tate, WR, TEN.
At 1.03 I will take Jadarian Price, RB, SEA.

@Ol_Gaffer is up next, I believe.

As I was entering everyone else’s keepers I realized how rough my team is. I’ve never really done the rebuild, contend, rebuild cycle and just sort of aimed for steady state, and for the most part it has been successful and I have a high playoff rate, but then I end up drafting around the end of the round every year and rarely get a chance at a star player. It’s kind of remarkable how far a team with mediocre RBs and WRs has managed to go. I do relatively better at other positions. I probably should’ve tried to trade up to the top of the round this year with my dual top tier assets at QB but I’ve just not had much time to do the work to research who is worth it and check the rosters to see what a good deal might be. It’s hard to imagine this year will be a playoff year for me because the potential unexpected stardom on my roster is pretty low and I’ve got a pretty critical weakness at RB especially, and this draft looks like it sucks for them.

Still, I’m scheduled to win the league every 5 years, and this is one of those years, so let’s see if I can limp into the playoffs and get hot.

As much as I would like to be fully invested in the Brownies, Mr. Concepcion is no Josh Gordon. But then again, who is?

1.04 Jordyn Tyson, WR, NO

@Jules_Andre is up.

Sorry guys. I just got back from a conference. I’ll post cuts first thing tomorrow.

I had a trade in the works for this pick that ended up not working out because of who was taken 1-4, but I am me, so I am pretty much inevitable.

TRADE TO ANNOUNCE:
HungryHungryHaruspex gives up:
Pick 1.05
Pick 2.08
RB Zach Charbonnet
2027 Last pick

Warner’s Brothers gives up:
Pick 2.01
Pick 4.01
Pick 5.01
2027 1st

@dalej42 is on the clock

Heading to bed after this:

Makai Lemon, WR, PHL

TRADE TO ANNOUNCE:
HungryHungryHaruspex gives up:
RB Woody Marks

Peteys gives up:
RB Aaron Jones Sr.

I thought Woody Marks was a really good pick last year. I was projecting that Joe Mixon was done based on his news from preseason last year, and that Nick Chubb wasn’t going to be able to carry the load anymore at the end of his excellent career. Check and check. Marks got the full time job and did the best he could behind an abysmal offensive line. I was hoping he would get the first crack at it this season and come into the season as the lead guy, but Houston had other ideas. I’m in need of someone currently healthy who will see the field, and Jones, despite being old and on the way out, is healthy and going to see the field in week 1. I might need him for a couple weeks if Ashton Jeanty is still hurt from almost dying when his ankle got sprained. It would stink if Marks ends up with the same role as Jones, but it’s a low-cost risk

As for my trade with Dale, it’s the time-honored, age-old gamble of a 1st this year for a 1st next year (with some extras that are side dishes to that main entree). Could backfire for me if Dale takes two top 5 picks this year and turns it around right away. Could backfire for him if Love isn’t He Who Was Promised right away. Either way, I wanted to pair Jadarian Price with Charbonnet, but Price went earlier and I had to pivot. I like Makai Lemon’s game a lot for Philly (think the common analysis of his fit there is laughably simplistic and shortsighted), but I have Devonta Smith and don’t want to go down that road again with two WRs on the same team. Especially if that offense isn’t going to air it out like Cincy or Dallas.

Anyway, @Really_Not_All_That_Bright is up with pick 1.06. I’m assuming he will get his cuts in tomorrow morning as he mentioned and then pick. So we might be finished for the night

Well I’m glad you’re alright and we didn’t have to deal with a second disappearance this offseason. I sentence you to third place in the division.

Once you turn in your cut list you can make your pick and everything should be fully on track.

Jules is up to his usual compulsive trading, which I admire. Really, the rest of us should be doing more. It’s probably shameful what fraction of trades Jules has been involved in since he joined the league.

Speaking of which, I may throw around some trade offers for Josh Allen or Drake May. I said that earlier, I know. I’ve been very overwhelmed the last couple of weeks and probably still another week to go at least on all that so I may end up sitting on an obvious massive trade assets while barely scraping together a starting RB lineup.

All trades processed, 47 year old Aaron Jones is now on Jules’ roster and everything in the league is up to date. Ellis traditionally handles the in-thread draft and trade tracking, so I’ll leave that for him to do if he’s cool with that.

Oh, hey, good news. I told Wilson a few posts ago that yahoo stopped updating the free agents / unowned players list as the draft was entered a few years ago, but that feature seems to be working again. So you can now search the league for “all available players” to see things like who is available, last year’s stats, this year’s projected stats, etc. for anyone who isn’t on a roster (and is therefore able to be drafted).

Fun to see the only running backs available are projected to get under rushing 400 yards. This has been an exceptionally shallow RB draft with, I guess, 2 guys.

I love how perfectly that fell for you. Serendipity.

Yep, you read my mind. I would have posted an update earlier but it’s August, which means I’m on night schedule to hide from the sun.

I decided to simply include a natural RNATB pick for every round. Next full update will be corrected for his actual cuts.

You can thank me for this feature, since I spent a couple of hours compiling my own spreadsheet of who would be available based on rookies, cuts, FA, etc; since SenorBeef said Yahoo didn’t do it.

Actually, I think something is still wrong with Yahoo - there aren’t any Defenses showing up as available, and I think two were cut?
