This will give you a rough idea of when players have been drafted in lots of other drafts. I don’t think you took any really bad players (Outside of Rob Johnson, who is not even starting this year), but many of them were taken too early. You could have gotten Farve in the 4th and Tim Brown in the 9th or later if you wanted them, leaving you with 2 more of the ever so important first 4 round picks… Edge at 2.06 is a solid pick. I would have passed the second kicker and tried to get one more RB.
What is standard scoring? None of the leagues I’ve ever played in seem to be “standard”*. Also, while this is great info, I’m kind of assuming that the people who are doing mock fantasy drafts tend toward the hardcore, more educated on football, etc. So it doesn’t necessarily represent the folks I’ll draft against in my IRL or SDMB leagues. I can tell you there some whacky stuff that happens in my IRL league, which only has a 13 round draft of maybe 10-12 teams. Including Jon Kitna and other Bengals normally going at silly premiums, with other Central Division folks also going as premiums. (and yes, I know that it’s now the NFC north, but this includes previous Central Division teams as well).
*My IRL league puts a premium on long touchdowns, with scoring for a TD about 3 points, but 1 extra point for every 10 yards out (from 5 yards as the basis). So a goal line dive is worth 3 points (maybe less for RBs) and a 80 yard touchdown run is worth 10 points. Plus bonuses for yardage milestones, ie, 1 point for 50 yards, 1 point for 75 yards, 1 point for 100 yards, etc. For QBs it’s -2 points for less than 250 yards passing, then 0 points for 250, 1 point for 300, 2 for 350, etc. (I think). PKs get 3 points for FGs, but -1 for each miss or block. 4 points for 50+.
well draft over. stupid computer selection… why would i want tim couch. happened while i went paintballing, didnt expect it to get there.
thanks for the praise MB
as for omni, i dont know why everyone is down on stewart my SEVENTH round pick.
last year he had 1300 total yards and 6 TDs
ahman green, your FIRST round pick has 1600 total yards and 9 TDs.
both numbers were from 14 games last year.
get a guy with only 300 fewer yards, and 3 fewer TDs 6 rounds later? that would be VALUE.
i’ll comment on the teams in a bit. good job all, too bad it went into the weekend though, probably could have avoided a lot of computer selections if it hadnt.
mrchan, if it helps, I’m a big Stewart fan. People were really down on him in one of my leagues last year, and no one noticed when I’d put him in my RB/WR slot and have him score tons of points. Not a bad value for a free agent pickup.
omni - Griese won’t start for a LONG time (if ever). bettis is ALWAYS in the best shape of his life. Fuamatu-Ma’afala is a 3rd string RB. Rhodes won’t play. Rogers is the definition of a gamble. Gadsden isn’t on an NFL team(he has NOT resigned with the fins). and eddie mac is an aging WR, probably won’t start and if he does he’ll get another 900 yards and 2 TDs.
travis taylor on the other hand is entering his 4th year had 850+ yards and 6 tds last season, and had over 500+ of those yards and all 6 TDs in his last 9 games.
I was surprised by the Gadsden pick too (and the commentary on it). He’s not a Dolphin and they don’t have a new starting qb.
Yeah, my team sucked. The two backup qb picks were atrocious and Qadry Ismail… yow. The rest of the picks were either picked or predrafted by me, I think. Oh, except for Wesley Walls. My WRs are pretty bad but the rest of the team is alright. This draft was beset by so much logistical difficulty though that I find it hard to attach myself much to the results.
We have one spot remaining in this year’s SDMB Fantasy Football League. It will be a 14 team league, with the typical 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 WR/RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF. Scoring is to be determined. We have had the requisite 3/4 of the league request it to be a keeper league, so we will it t’will be. (We’ll be keeping 3 players each year, plain and simple. No screwing around with what round they were drafted in, etc.)
Drop me an e-mail if you want in. Please be aware that since it is a keeper league, we’re looking for some long term commitment.
Waddamaroon and Happy Scrappy, I sent you an e-mail. If either of you respond, you’ll get priority. But come Monday, the first person to have responded via e-mail gets the spot.
Just sent you an email. I understand your prior commitment with the other guys, but I’m ready if they aren’t.

As an aside to members of the Osip league: What do we do if Major Kong does not meet his commitment? If he gets banned from here, or kicked at Yahoo (he tried to register an obscene team name) what will we do to keep the game running? Inqiring minds want to know.
