So, I was considering taking Shockey in the same spot I took Gonzalez, insanity, what do you all think?
Thanks Omni. My dog ate that page of the instructions.
I was actually lying in that thread, I just wanted you guys to think I was cool.

Where’s mrchan? My predrafted picks are starting to fall like flies… I want to see who I end up with.
Hmm, mrchan’s predrafted his entire draft up to this point, lets hope he knows he’s on the clock.
Omni, I think that Shockey needs to go before Gonzo does. He completely outperformed him last year, and there’s nothing to say that he won’t again this year. However, I think 3rd round, ESPECIALLY in a 10 team league is way too early.
But I think with Shockey, you can make all sorts of mistakes and not have to worry about it. You can now go early on the top defenses, push for a solid backup QB and take risks.
I’d also like to point out that I would have taken Shockey instead of Antowain “Oh my ovaries” Smith, and I would have smashed all of you.
How are your ovaries, Munch?
I don’t know what kind of scoring you’re referring to, but he sure didn’t in my league. For all his hype, people seem to forget that Shockey finished the year with exactly 2 TDs.
Gonzo avg’d 7.44 PPG
Shockey avg’d 7.00 PPG
And that’s even taking into consderation the game shockey missed. Gonzo outscored him by 14 points for the whole year.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Shock is in the top 3 TEs this year, but I am far from sold on him as the #1 TE.
You know, I’ve never done a 10 team draft. Maybe that’s why I’m surprised at some of the talent that is still out there in these later rounds. With only 10 teams, I imagine the waiver wire becomes more important than the draft itself.
Most of the guys I have my eye on will probably still be around later, maybe because they’re so well hidden (but more likely because I like the losers that nobody else does.)
I’ll be predrafting most of the way, because I’m away from a puter this weekend. I’ll see you Tuesday. Good Luck all, and enjoy the weekend.
Munch, you realize I took him in the 5th round, right?
This predrafting in advance is hard. I won’t know what spots I’ll have to fill. Here’s hoping I don’t end up with 4 qbs and 1 rb
You know, I think we oughta NMR him…
NMR = ?
Inside Diplomacy joke, not to be concerned.
I called mrchan and he told me who to get. Down to Wilson now.
hijacking,
WL, what happened to your weekly baseball rankings? I liked them.
Hamlet, you’re actually excited about picking Keyshawn? Wow, thats a new one.
Eh wha hah? Stop poking me, I’m awake.
I took Shockey in the fifth round - but I would have taken Gonzalez ahead of him had he been available. Gonzo had one “bad” year and still was near the top of the TE pack.
Looking at the average draft positions for ten team leagues, Gonzalez is at 4.09 and Shockey at 5.02, so I guess getting Shockey at the end of the fifth isn’t so much of a reach.
So anyway - what is people’s read on the SF running back position? Is Barlow really going to jump ahead of Hearst?
Whoops - read that wrong. The average draft ratings has Shockey going above Gonzalez. Interesting…
