SDMB Secret Santa Exchange

Ditto.

Just got back from the PO. Package is on its way!

Anaamika is the sly devil, really, giving us the Secret Santa we wanted. Many thanks!

Shirley gave me a gift certificate for knitpicks.com, my favorite yarn source and an adorable mitten ornament. I can’t wait to shop!

PS Shirley also went over the limit and by a lot more than 17 cents. I wonder if they’re doing a Secret Santa on the knitty board. Hmmmm.

So, I got my gifts done and wrapped. I wrote cards. And then I realized- I don’t have boxes. :smack: So hopefully, the post office will have some. I’m trying, I really am!

Too bad you’re so far away from me. I have tons of boxes in my garage.

I finally got mine mailed out today. Sent Priority Mail to somewhere east of here, and the Post Office Lady said 2-3 days.

oh.

Very nice! Thank you so much!

I’ll be getting mine out soon. I know it’s a bit late, and I’m sorry, but I’ve had a lot happen to me in the last couple of weeks. I just wanted to say I haven’t totally forgotten, but starting a new job and all has totally thrown me for the last couple of weeks

Got mine today and I love it! Yummy gourmet chocolates and coffee and a FairyChatMom original blue bowl. I think I will pour the chocolates into the bowl and have them on the table at my Christmas party. Thank you so much!

Oh, and the box was just the right size for mine, too, so it’s packed and ready to go tomorrow morning.

Ordered mine this morning so it should arrive within 3 to 5 days.

I hope they like it.

[petulant Santa mode]Tell them what it was![PSM, which has no relation whatsoever to PMS]

It’s a calendar.

Now, at first, I was a little disappointed. I bought myself the calendar I want way back in July. I’ve already reserved my special calendar hook for it.

But that’s OK. This one wouldn’t have fit there anyway. This one I’m going to have to reserve special wall space for. I know just where to put it. It requires a 3’X2’ space. It’s going right above my couch so that I can look at it and learn something interesting every day.

It doesn’t begin and end on the new year. It begins and ends on the Winter Solstice. I’ll need to change the posters on another solstice and two equinoxes. Each poster shows what is happening at any particular time, in the sky, on the land, and on the ocean surface. In the sky, there are always interesting constellations, lunar and planetary motion, and meteor showers. On the land, there are interesting plants and animals in bloom, molting, migrating, or hibernating. On the sea there are tides, listed as lunar, neap, and spring. (Very useful to a beach goer!) And there are hundreds of little facts, factoids, legends, and other fun things relating to the seasons.

All of this is put together in an artistically fun and beautiful way, designed to stimulate the intellect and stir the imagination.

Perfect! Thank you, Santa!

Aw, 'twas nothing. [/false modesty]

If worse comes to worst, I can mail them when I go home (this weekend)- I’m at school now. We have tons of boxes in the attic at home. They will get out, I promise! I just might be slightly past deadline, but only by a couple of days.

My present arrived this morning!

Thanks, Scuba Ben! I was just contemplating buying myself a travel mug, so your gift was particularly fortuitous.

I sent mine this morning. I forgot to ask when it would arrive. But, I sent another package last Thursday and it arrived at it’s destination on Saturday. So, I’m guessing Saturday. Monday at the latest. It’s going south (not that south narrows it down very much).

My gift is in the mail!

However, if my package was given a Chinese fortune cookie, it would say You will take a long journey across the water! So if it does not arrive in time for Christmas Day, my apologies and please consider it a New Year’s gift.

I sent mine out today, too. It’s winging its way cross-country as we speak. Hopefully where it’s going it’s nice warm weather; I had to brush the snow off of it as I went into the post office.

Glad it got there intact, and glad you like it! You were easy to gift - I was able to match 3 parts of your wish list! Believe it or not, that was the first pottery piece I pulled out of the box - it wasn’t the specific one I originally planned to send you, but when I saw it, I decided it was the right one.

Incidentally, it is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Sent my two out today! (Incidentally, the post office did have boxes).
