I think the pie I had today was a mistake. I’ll have to work out extra hard tomorrow. I’ts very difficult when my wife wants to get pie and I have to sit and watch. On Sunday I watched her eat ice cream. Her weight is fine since she runs 5 miles at a time and lifts weights.
Pie is never a mistake. Pie today, no big deal. Pie EVERY day, problem.
These last two nights have been a bitch. I was so tired yesterday I came home early and didn’t use the elliptical.
Tonight my weight workout sucked hard. I did all the exercises but not full force. I did get the cardio in. But it was a tough night. I hate this time in my work outs because when this lull come I’m in real danger of dropping my good habits. I have to dig in hard and try to weather it out…
Hope you all are doing better than I!
Khadaji, sometimes when I’m tempted to skip exercising, I’ll tell myself “If I work out extra-hard today, maybe I’ll take off tomorrow”. I rarely end up taking off the next day, but the idea that I could helps get me through the day. I use the same trick with food I know I shouldn’t eat. I was in Sheetz this morning (for those who might not be familiar, Sheetz is like 7-11) getting coffee. Of course they have it set up so you have to go past the donuts, cinnamon rolls, etc. to get your coffee. Those cream cheese iced cinnamon rolls looked so good today! But I told myself “I’ll resist them today; if Friday comes and I’m a lower weight this Friday than I was last Friday, maybe I’ll get one then”.
I adore the Fiber One bars. But I can’t handle having them in the house right now because I like them THAT much. Maybe when I’m maintaining and not in the losing phase.
As far as the frozen entrees and sodium. Unless anyone is on a sodium restricted diet prescribed by their health care provider, there’s little reason to exclude these if you like them. Our bodies are VERY efficient at getting rid of excess sodium as long as we are drinking enough fluids every day. Most entrees actually have a modest amount of sodium in them and fit nicely into a day’s worth of meals.
I like Lean Cuisine the best. And really, many of them have about 500-600 mg which is not a huge amount. So enjoy if you like the taste and convenience! Many of my lost pounds are credited to LC meals so it certainly didn’t hinder my weight loss
OK, what I thought was the workout doldrums may be a cold/virus. One is going through our office. Today I vacillate between being exhausted and having lots of energy. I also spent too much time in the men’s room this morning.
I think I may skip the cardio this evening and concentrate on resting. I don’t want what the others have had…
I’d have posted this earlier, but you know. The boards were up.
But it’s official: I have crossed the line from “almost 50” to “50 and a bit.” Yay!
I’m really liking the Eating Right line of frozen dinners. Don’t know how well they’re distributed but my Safeway has been carrying them for the last six or eight months. In that short time, they have totally won me over with high quality and attention to good nutrition. Eating Right also has cup-style soups, with their split pea being very tasty, cereals, oatmeal (my favorite) and snack foods. Hope to see even more of their products on the shelves soon.
I still can’t get below 164.2 pounds! Went on a couple of long walks this week, been watching what I eat. Nada. Nearly stomped my scale to death the other day out of frustration. Still, when I think of how far I’ve come in a relatively short time, I know I don’t really have anything to worry about. The rest will come off when it’s ready.
**Khadaji **and **tdn, ** Wow! You’re both looking good!
Hope you had a very good birthday! In a couple of weeks, I can join you in saying I’m “49 and a bit.”
Khadaji, sorry didn’t see your post too. Both you and tdn posted while I was composing my first one. Sorry you’re under the weather. I think resting is a very good idea. I’m sending good thoughts your way that what you have passes quickly. ((Khadaji))
I prefer the Healthy Choice entrees myself (partially because they’ve got the sodium content smack on the front, next to the calories and fat content), but I have a soft spot for the Lean Cuisine chicken fried rice bowl. I tend to just keep one or two frozen meals available for emergencies.
I hope you feel better soon, Khadaji!
And now it’s stupid question time. You WW people in here, why are cooked carrots and cooked onions 1 point (while raw ones are 0)?
They assume that you’ve cooked them in gobs of oil or butter, I suppose. Not necessarily; I tend to steam veggies. Just go by their ingredients points. If you add butter, count the points.
I think a cup of cooked carrots or onions technically contains more carrot or onion than it would if raw. Some water content has been cooked out, and the sugars concentrated, so there is greater mass in the same volume.
Now, one of you science people can tell me why I’m wrong.
Yeah, but if I measure out the carrots and onions before cooking, that wouldn’t effect it, would it?
Oh, and had my weigh in this morning. Down to 226.4!
Congrats tdn and Kat, good job!
Kat, I’ll tell you something. I have no clue why they count cooked carrots as 1 point but I refuse to count carrots. I rarely eat them cooked anyway so it really doesn’t matter.
I’m stuck between 164-165.5. I feel like I’m going to be here for a while. I need to eat more veggies and fruits and stay away from the 2 pt bars. I just overdo them.
This is probably cheating, but since I had my emergency surgery on August 2 (in which they removed several organs), in combination with the poor reaction to the pain meds, I’ve managed to loose 12 lbs. in two weeks!
Please don’t rain on my parade. I know it’s probably water that I’ve lost and it will come back once I actually begin to eat again…
I always say take the good with the bad. Since you had to have surgery, you might as well enjoy the weight loss.
Weighed myself today, for the first time in many weeks. Have been on holiday, feeling a bit fat, been eating crap so I’ve been putting it off. And I’ve lost a couple of pounds to bring me down to 168 pounds from 213 in January.
I was pretty relieved given my recent lack of willpower. I guess the extra exercise compensated. I’m now walking to work and back which is seven miles or so round trip. Gives me time to think and listen to music so I don’t mind the extra travel time.
I’m hoping to lose another 14 pounds.
You never know. It’s been 2 months since my surgery, and I haven’t gained anything back. I only lost about 5 or 6 pounds due to the hospital diet and pain pills, though.
Diet’s stalled out for a bit, but oh well. I did just realize that I’m finally the weight on my driver’s license (which was put down nearly 9 years ago when I got my first license and hasn’t been changed since.) That weight is still too high, but it’s still something.
