Season Long NFC North Discussion Thread

And now the zebras add non-existent time to the Fudgepackers’ play clock. Fuck. They’re not even trying to be sneaky.

what’s it like to cheer for a team where you know the officials are going to bend over backwards to get you a win? Must be nice.

Oh Christ, would you please stop whining.

If Dio ever stopped whining, he wouldn’t have anything to post. Take his football opinion for what it’s worth… nothing.

310 yards worth of penalties in the game. Thank heavens the strong armed Joe Flacco threw three picks and Rice fumbled in the red zone.

The defense played very well for a majority of the game. What Capers has been able to do this year is pretty damn impressive, and it was nice to see Raji and Matthews starting to have pretty big impacts.

Next up, the Bears in Chicago. Should be fun.

Keep believing that. Unfortunately for Brett, he won’t have the luxury of throwing the ball against crappy CB’s like he’s accustomed to. I am predicting that we intercept Favre at least twice.

Bengals beat Vikes, Bears beat Packers. Gonna be a fun weekend.

I hope you’re right about beating the Packers.

Me too. I will be the biggest Bears fan this weekend. Ugh. (Not that I dislike the Bears; it’s just that, well, they kinda suck.)

Little early in the day to be baked to the gills isn’t it?

Yeah. I mean, there’s no way the Bears are going to beat the Packers.

The Packers are the most penalized team - I doubt arguing that the refs fix the games so they win works very well with that stat.

I only heard the game on the radio, but even the Packer Radio guys were saying there were a lot of dodgy calls (both for and against the Packers)

There are some penalties which are relatively OK (holding, some pass interferance) and some which are plain stupid (facemask, false start/delay of game at home)

Looking at the schdule the Packers have a real chance of running the table. Now they should win the games against Chicago and Seattle. Of course the first is a rivalry game in Chicago so that is not a certainty and since NOTHING is a certainty in the NFL, they could lose to Seattle. Nonetheless, they are certainly favored in both matchups.

In two weeks the Packers travel into Pittsburgh, which will be a monumental task. But given the way the Steelers are playing, the Packers could go in there and steal this one. I would not favor the Packers but right now I would put it a good 35% possibility.

And then finally the Cardinals in the last game of the season. It will largely depend on who needs it more and there is a possibility that neither team will need it. The Caridnals will proabbly have their division locked up, but no first round bye. The Packers also could have thier spot in the wildcard locked up (or they could be out of it, anything is possible), but they are likely to need it to clinch a wildcard. I would put this one at 50/50 simply because of the Cardinals factor.

I will put the Bears win probability at 75% and the Seahawks win probability at 85%. So by rough and decidedly unscientific reasoning the Packers have an 11% chance to run the table. Ok so that is only 1 out of 9, the key of course is the Pittsburgh game. If they win that their probability of running the table goes to almost 33% or one in three.

I know, I have thought too much about this.

The Bears have been crappy, but it’s only a 3 point spread and the weather could be utterly brutal. If it’s snowing and/or frigid that 75% likelihood is way too generous. Even if the weather closer to typical I think that’s still too much to give in a divisional game on the road against a team with talent on both sides of the ball. The Bears aren’t the Browns yet.

I like the “yet” qualifier at the end of your statement, like the Bears becoming the Browns is a foregone conclusion!

Current forecast is for 33 degrees, somewhat windy (10mph or so), and a slight chance of “wintry mix” precipitation.

Read my position regarding Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo, so says the Ghost of Football Seasons Yet To Come.

Yeah, I saw that but considering the conditions tonight and expected for tomorrow I’m not counting on quite that big a warm up. That wintry mix is expected later in the evening, if it gets there early the game could be sloppy especially on the typically atrocious turf in Soldier Field.

Oh, yeah…the Chicago Park District, and the worst field in the league. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Browns beat the Steelers.
The weather has been brutal. The wind chill in our area is below zero right now. Very little snow. Very windy.

With Cutler feuding with his QB coach and NFL referees, and Urlacher taking shots at Cutler and Forte, I’m concerned about the infighting going on in the Green Bay locker room. Greg Jennings and James Jones get into it.

To save anyone from having to watch Hamlet’s video link thinking it will be a real story, it’s just a lame feature about their stupid Christmas lights on their stupid houses.

OK, I’ll agree to that, but after last night I am inclined to increase the Packers chances against the Steelers, so I think it works out close to the same anyway.
