Touchdown Vikings!!
The refs kinds of stayed out of it so far, but now realize the Cowboys need their help.
This sort of silly statement seems to be much more prevalent around here lately. I find it annoying as a person who referees sports. Referees are not helpers of anyone. Disagreeing with a call because it went differently than you thought/wanted is one thing; it’s almost to be expected when you are a fan of a team (though I try to get fans of my team aware that they cannot always have things their own way!). Implying that the referees are dishonest simply needs to stop.
I agree but taunting is just a bullshit call.
Bullshit rule or call?
Why? It’s been proven that umpires give name pitchers a bigger strike zone and call more penalties in favor of stars in the NBA. I see no reason not to critique one of the biggest problems in the game, which is inconsistent refing. Arguments that a line of discussion is simply closed (or better yet, “unmanly”) is complete rubbish.
Both. It goes on on every play. If it were up to me, I’d eliminate the rule at the professional level.
It would be nice if players simply were grown-up enough not to do that crap, but I don’t think it should be part of the rule book either. Baseball does a pretty good job of instilling a professional ethic without any rules of conduct. Which isn’t to say there are not benches-clearing brawls, just that the taunting and boasting are not a part of the game they way they are in football and basketball.
You know what part of baseball “ethics” that I hate? It’s the notion that if a pitcher hits one of your guys, you must have your own pitcher hit one of their guys. That’s never made sense to me.
“Proven” how?
I disagree with both premises.
And inconsistent refereeing is always able to be criticized. The criticism applicable is: “you’re being inconsistent”, not: “you’re being intentionally inconsistent to help one particular team.”
Jesus, the officials really are taking over now, aren’t they? An ignored late hit on Favre, an ignored, blatant defensive holding, now this bullshit. They must have gotten a phone call at halftime.
That was one of the most bogus stretches of calls and non calls that I can remember. I don’t think that “late hit” was a legitimate penalty, but the defensive holding no call was a joke. I’m not sure any of those calls were legit. Bizarre turn of events.
Are you sure you’re not a some kind of chatbot, previously programmed with Dio posts?
When you see the inconsistent reffing hurt or help one team game after game, season after season, you begin to wonder.
I think it’s likely that like MLB and NBA, some of it has to do with prejudice for players, not teams. Refs don’t even know they are doing it. Santana gets a better strike zone because, hey, he’s Santana – he knows what he’s doing. I pick a player who pitched most of his career with my favorite team to show I can spot it when it’s in favor of the team I am rooting for. I think they might also think of some teams as “dirty,” like the Ravens, and watch them more.
A rare excellent punt from Kluwe!
Boy that was a bullshit call too. Nice flop though.
So far Dallas hasn’t been able to capitalize on any of those calls.
I’m happy to see Romo suck so much.
I’m honestly stunned. I had a bad feeling coming into the game, and though that the Vikings might squeak through somehow. Nothing prepared me for this complete turdfest by Dallas so far. Are they just waiting for a miraculous, ref-aided comeback to make it that much more painful for the Vikings fans? Or were they just that overrated? And if the latter, how bad was Philly, really, to get whomped twice by these Cowboys?
impressve game by th Vikes. Kudos.
