Secret Santa 2002!

Oh I love this one… I’m in.

As for my wish list? Um…
a good book of the sci-fi/fantasy/classical philosophy persuasion.
cool socks
interesting earrings of the reasonably small and metal persuasion (and not likely to mess with me…sensitive ears.)
anything fun or chocolate like

I’m in, I’ve had so much fun with these…my THIRD Secret Santa Project.

What I Would Like:

Stuff. White elephant-type items are exceedingly welcome, but only if they are especially tacky. Or, if you have any old costume jewellry around, especially if they have glass beads…I would love that sort of thing. Or something cute and local.

Oh shoot. My real life name is a little ambiguous. To whoever gets me, I’m female. I tend to like books, especially mysteries, science fiction and curiosities, puzzles, bath stuff, candles, and just about anything from Pier 1 Imports. I’ll also echo Billdo and say that something from your hometown would be fun, too.

Now, how do I wrap a pahn a chipchopped ham an’ 'at?
CJ

Heh. I actually understand Pittsburghese, but I don’t knoe that I ever encountered chipchopped ham.

So, here’s who I’ve gotten emails from so far:

If you’re not on the list and you emailed me, please email again.

And thanks to those who have offered to ship internationally if necessary.

I’ll help you out Caught@Work. I will bet we are not the only Aussie Dopers who end up taking part, but I can’t leave a fellow countryman springing for international shipping

I am not back on email until December 2 though. I am off on my awfully big adventure.

Just as an aside, are we talking $10 US or $10 local to wherever you happen to be? Either way is fine, just so I know

I’m in - and the email has been sent!

Incidentally, I’m willing to take an overseas recipient - I think I can swing the postage.

Are Pagans allowed to participate?

I’ve been here a long time, but I mostly lurk, nobody talks to me much, I figure this might be my “in” to the tight-nit SDMB crowd!

Besides, who’s to say Santa doesn’t visit the little pagan children a few days early (Yule) anyway!

** //\etalhea|)** anyone is allowed to participate. So that means you too!

And don’t worry about people not talking to you much - they don’t to me either. But I did get some very helpful ideas in a thread I started recently.

So sit back, and wait for your little bundle in the mail!

It’s $10 American. Or…

9.95653 Euros
15.7475 Canadian dollars
6.33376 British pounds
1,203.82 yen
17.7640 Australian dollars
20.7400 Fiji dollars
46.9624 Israel new shekels
37.9999 Malaysia ringgits

It’s just a guideline, anyway.

I haven’t posted much but I would like to particpate.
OK??
Chillin’ in Minnesota

I am in. e-mail had been sent. Woohoo presents!

Bring it on.

For the record I like celtic and western stuff(duh). I’m also a voracious reader, any genre. Among the crap I collect are wolves, Daisy duck and Kermit the Frog stuff, Legos and shot glasses.

Looking forward to making someone smile. One way or another.

Yah - I’m in - presents are fun.

I like books - Margaret Atwood, Barbara Gowdy, Wally Lamb - that sort of thing.

I like glass (you know - those glass figureens) although that might be tricky to mail.

I like bunnies.

I like frogs.

I like fish.

I’m E-Z. Um - not to be grinchy, but I’m not a really X-mas ornamenty kind of gal, unless it can go on the tree. I have limited storage and don’t really have space for stuff that only comes out for a month a year.

Thanks!

Also - PLEEEEEEEEEEEESE people - post some sort of wish list. I never heard a peep from my person last year, tried desperately to think of something she would like, and then never heard weather she got it, liked it or anything. I assume she hated it, although I did try very hard. :frowning:

OK, since we’re offering suggestions too - I’d love anything peculiar to the area of the sender. That would mean the most to me.

Aw, the way I look at it, guidelines are MADE to be broken!

See, the way I look at it has always been this…

You take the $10.00 guideline, and you go shopping. Then, when you see something your Secret Santa giftee just HAS to have, you figure out how much pleasure it is going to give YOU to give them…whatever it is that strikes you…and then you figure in how much it is worth to give them…whatever it is…and then you decide if the extra money is worth the pleasure you are going to have in sending it. Anything over ten dollars is NOT breaking the guidlines, it is a gift you are giving yourself.

See? Easy!

Boy, the exchange rate on Malaysia ringgits really sucks, doesn’t it?

Ruins my holiday plans, I’m tellin ya.

I’m in.

Like others have mentioned, something unique to the area of my SS would be cool. I can’t really think of anything else, mainly 'cause when I asked my Dad if he wanted a Xmas list from me, he said, “Well, I was planning on giving you money.”  :stuck_out_tongue:

Plus, it’s going to be hard as this is the first Christmas since my mom died back in March.

For a wish list, to help my giver:

Chocolate is always nice
Crystals, the kind hung in the window to catch the spectrum
Cat stuff
Or, as others have said, something that represents your area

I’m in! And I’ll do international if needed!

I hope I’m as lucky this year as I was last year!
